View Full Version : Alexandr0's W.I.P's

23-01-2007, 21:37
Hello all! This being my second post on the forums and all, i decided it be something that i can commit to, and (hopefully) the W.I.P. section is it. My only aspirations is to someday achieve the greatness of deadley, but that will take quite a while by the looks of it....
Anywho, i'll be posting various tid bits whenever i get the chance to, and speaking of which, here's one right now!

First off, i had been planning for a while to do a devastator army and needed a bit of fluff to go with it. Deathwatch occured to me, and i thought why not? So, here's a pic of my commander sans paint:

And two of them with some work done:

No good commander would be complete without a base, so i took my hand at painting one up. It turned out fine, but im not yet sure as to whether or not i want to keep that overall effect for the rest of the army, or do it a snow theme. Here goes:

More in the next post.

In continuation with previous post, another project I have taken up is my preparation to GD Canada, and i plan on entering40K single, and maybe (if inspiration comes) fantasy single. For now, though, i have a chaos space marine which i very recently started labouring on:

Mayhaps he will be replacing my current fellow whom i plan to enter = inquisitor lok, a model i've already finished. Although he looks fine, im really starting to dislike his sword hand, as well as sword, so plan to redo him a little while later:

And that concludes everything i have to offer. I will be posting as often as i can, but seeing as how this is my last year of high school, that won't be nearly as often as i'd like. C&C welcome on anything and everything!

Ultra's! :D
bloody good paintwork mate following this.

23-01-2007, 21:41
DO NOT repaint Lok. He is famazing.

23-01-2007, 21:42
Everything is looking great so far! i agree with changing the sword hand on Lok, it looks like the hand of a completely different model.

23-01-2007, 21:56
Lok is certainly well painted, but as mentioned, his hand could perhaps be re-done. Just do that bit though, and good look with GD.

23-01-2007, 22:01
That's some amazing painting!

I think Lok is fine, but you might want to fancy up his base a bit. Its "plain-ness" is a horrible contrast to the highly detailed mini.

23-01-2007, 22:37
We... need... updates! :D

24-01-2007, 01:57
Holy......Damn those are some finely painted models, that inquisitor....damn.

Well those are looking fantastic so far, keep it up, i can't wait to see more. The chaos space marine is looking great so far as well, very cool conversion.

24-01-2007, 02:07
Good god! And I thought my minis we're half bad... :cries:

Those are amazing! The inquisitor is... too cool for words! It looks so real it's insane! That's crazy. Keep up the good work!

24-01-2007, 02:39
I love that Lok...but I can see what you are saying about the sword and hand. I dont paint to quite your standard, but my problem with it is that the highlight bands dont transition as evenly as they could...I mean it slowly changes color and then BAM, its white. Possibly spreading out the value shift might make the blend look more natural.

Your metal (and the rest of the model, for that matter) are incredible. Fantastic work.

After much consideration, i have dug up some of my older models that i (at one point in time) worked on but eventually scraped for one reason or another. Heavens knows if i will finish ANY of them up, but at least this way, my conscience will pay dearly whenver it sees them...

Anywho, first up is my year old black templars commander. I tried to reposition him to stand up right. It worked, but the model didn't look as dynamic as i would have hoped. I also did my first try at source lighting (which flopped) and i discontinued the model:

Next is Saint Celestine. This was originally supposed to be a gift for someone, but with a two week constraint, cash was a much better option:

And finally, a little something i tinkered with for a while. Does anyone remember the colour bilious green? Well, it was pretty much radioactive scorpion green. I gave it a shot with a goblin, and may yet do a hero or two in that style:

Well, that's that. I have little else at the ready, but will update as often as i can. C&C always welcome!

25-01-2007, 22:28
Well, even against my good councelling and my engineering exam tommorrow, i managed to sneak a half an hour into my commander fellow. Did the face and his computer panel:

C&C always welcome! Let me know what you think about anything and everything!

Wow dude. Just...wow.

Awesome work man, just awesome. I love the Inquisitor but the sword is a little off. Im not sure its the hand so much as the sword itself, it seems a little bland for an Inquisitor maybe you need some sort of ornate power weapon. Still fantastic painting.

26-01-2007, 01:53
Stonking work! I love the radioactive goblin and as others have said the stubble on the bikers chin is wonderful was it done with a grey wash?

26-01-2007, 02:09
hmmm shiny... well done, some excelent work here

26-01-2007, 02:27
Cheers on the comments, Guys!
The skin was as such
-Dark Flesh Basecoat
-Mix in some dwarf flesh
-Some more...
-Dwarf Flesh
-Mix in some white
-Some more...
-A little more...
And presto! you're done!

The stublle was a first for me, as i never tried such an effect before. It was a controlled wash of codex grey over his chin a numbre of times, building it up the lower you go. Then, for some real 9 o'clock shadow, i mix in a little black, and glaze the chin once more. A similar effect was done for his blad head, although that was only codex, and took a number of tries to get right :P

Yeah, that face is just money as hell. Nice work :)

28-01-2007, 03:10
OOPS! Double posted :(

Well, not realyl a painting update or anything of the kind, but more of a future project type of thing. Starting February 3rd, this project will (hipefully take up a majority of my time, seeing as how if i am able to pull it off, i will be most happy :)
A couple of days ago, me and my friend got talking about the new 300 movie. (which is too cool for words) Soon after that, we got talking about my lack of motivation to do a fantasy mini for canadian GD. Well, one thing led to another, and the two intretwined. Enter Mordheim gladiator.
Now, this thing is still in early concept stages, seeing as how i still dont know whether or not to turn it into an evil one (chaos gladiator) or good one (imperial gladiator). I put together some sketches of both here. Mind you, there are rough ideas, and by no means close to final product:
What do you guys think i should follow along with, good or evil? ANy details you have in mind for either?
Cheers in advance on any and all of the positive reviews that will be coming ;)

P.S. what do you think i should paint my commander's sword as? I was thinking of making it like a radioactive type of sword (maybe even like the goblins skin?) but not too sure on the colour.
