View Full Version : Rear rocket pods?

Just noticed this, anyone have any explanation why the valkeries rocket pods are rear facing? Especially when the incredibly similar vulture has forward facing rocket pods?

True, never noticed till now *scratches head*, hmm i'd say its a typo. I don't think that the valkyrie was ment to shoot stuff in the back arc.

Otherwise maybe its made to give it some all around capability of attacking ground targets, when you zoomed over one too fast.

Well, it unloads troop out the back. Fire support...?

Typo is equally likely though.

There are a number of other examples of this. I rationalise it by saying that they are actually forward facing but with very short range. Rear facing is used to simulate the bombs/rockets being fired/dropped and the craft continuing forwards over the point of impact.

That's a reasonable rationalisation, but when you're hovering at speed 0 then it doesn't make sense to be hitting things 12" behind you.

FAQ on FW states this is a typo. They are foward.
