HatO, I did try that, well using GW paints, but using the Mechrite Red first, did it on the Incinerator GK in this thread, as you can see, looks the same, and in the end still needed a good few coats of Red Gore to ensure that the colour came out the same as the others, so maybe if I had started with that on all of them, less work would have been needed, but meh who knows! I have enough Red Gore to last me for now, so will worry about that when I need too!

Back from work now, and so if I can be bothered I may finish the Assassin, won't get any pics tonight, as I need my bro's PC for that and hes in bed, since he has school tomorrow. But tomorrow I will get pics up for you, honest!!!

Morning all, finished the assassin last night, just needs a coat of varnish and I shall snap some pics for you. I think shes turned out really well TBH, and I feel the pose is fairly dynamic, something I often have trouble with. So all in all I am pleased with the way my assassins have come out, and they look good on the table.

Pics later, I promise!!

OK, so I know this is the 3rd post in a row from me, but there is something useful in this one, the finished death wench!! Pics are below, comments and crits as usual are appreciated.

Cheers for looking!

That looks really good! I admit I was a little scheptical when I saw her WiP pics earlier on this page, but I like that very much. Gives me a few ideas for my own DCAs. :p

Making several posts in a row is fine in your own blog, I always thought, so long as its not actually spam. :p I do the same in mine, if its any consolation. :p

Catferret

Ah, you got her finished then. Looks good. The base really adds some size to an otherwise quite small model. Nice work KS.

KayvaanShrike
21-08-2007, 16:42
Cheers guys.

@Catferret yeah I saw the models and thought if they are on 25mm bases on a battlefield then you are going to lose them, and forget about them, so why not stick them on bigger bases.

Bought a Chimera today for my Inq Stormie to ride aboot in. Quick question even though I am using the Chimera out of the Daemonhunters codex, could I still field it with an Imperial Armour weapons turret, i.e with an Autocannon etc and would that still be allowed? Because I want it to have a bit more of an interesting weapon.

And any cool ideas for what to do with the Chimera are appreciated.

Slaaneshi Slave
21-08-2007, 16:46
The Inquisitorial Chimera entry in IA2 lists all the non Codex entries along with the normal ones - Twin Linked Heavy Bolter, Heavy Flamer and Autocannon. Without going into any details about the stats, I advice you to use a Heavy Flamer turret, as its both fitting for a Inquisitorial force, and cheap (and you want transports as cheap as possible, without sacrifising needed upgrades).

21-08-2007, 16:54
Yeh GS =I= would look cool, but I am not very good with GS, specially not small fiddly things like that, maybe if I cut them out of plasticard may work, I have some fairly thin plasticard.

Why dont you use the brass etched =I= symbol sheets that forge world produce? there are some really small ones on there.

KayvaanShrike
21-08-2007, 17:25
Oh right, so if I wanted too, I could use an Autocannon etc though? cheers

@Nyarlathotep, I do use them now, if you look on the left shin of each DK there is one of the brass etch =I= symbols.

Right an update of sorts. There is pics, but they are of something diff that I want you to have a wee look see at for me!

On the daemonhunters side of things I was waiting on my delivery of plasticard and green stuff to get here so I could keep working on the interior of my Chimera. And the good news is that it turned up this morning, and so within the next few days I will get some pics up of the WIP Chimera.

Now I started painting the new jump chaplain for my mates DA army. So here he is so far, bear in mind very WIP still, so dont crit on the little mistakes, as all will get fixed. I mainly want some feedback on the freehand DA symbol, this is my first freehand attempt on anything significant. Now after I took the pics I realised that the 2 wings of the symbol arent even, that is now sorted.

Onto the pics then eh

Face is more or less done, as is the gold I think. The parchment is nearly done as well, although it may need a furthur highlight.

C and C appreciated for this as I want it to turn out really well in the end.

Hey nice work on the DC assassin, looks very nice on that base!

Loving the free hand on the chaplain mate, very very well done cant wait to see the finished results.

KayvaanShrike
24-08-2007, 16:00
Right well you won't have to wait long because I have just finished the Jump Chaplain, and as with the Libby I painted I am damn annoyed its not my model as I feel its one of the best I have ever painted. It is dullcoted and flocked, so there isn't much more I can do with it. C and C welcome!!

mmmmm, that is a very nice mini mate.

Maybe you should do dark angels at some point, yes?

Well now thats done...back to the inquisition! i need to see more to get my motivation up.

KayvaanShrike
24-08-2007, 16:27
Maybe I should. Although I have definitely promised myself no more models until my Raven Gaurd are finished. For those that are interested that amounts too:
1 Dreadnought
1 Techmarine
3 Assault Termies
5 Devastators
3 Devastators (Touch ups only)
10 Tactical Marines

And my Daemonhunters I have still to do:
2 GK's
1 GK Dreadnought
1 Acolyte
1 Chimera

And once all that is done then I can buy more minis, obviously that rule doesn't apply to GD, but hey all I buy there will be minis that I have always wanted or just for the "oo" factor.

So your vote, out of all that, what do I do next?

ss_cherubael
24-08-2007, 16:30
Techmarine, even more so if its the servo harness one.
I love anything mechanicus and i think you will do a damn good job of it mate.
If not that do the GK dread

Catferret
24-08-2007, 16:31
Assault Termies! I like Termies.

Slaaneshi Slave
24-08-2007, 16:36
He looks great! I particularly like the subtle highlights and the gold (which I am experimenting with myself on the Inquisition stuff in my blog). Keep it coming, but get away from the mutants and get back to His glorious Inquisiton! :P

KayvaanShrike
24-08-2007, 16:40
Its an old Techmarine given a new lease of life with one of the new plastic termy Thunderhammers, and a repositioned servo arm (not a servo harness).

O.o just realised I have more plasticard and so could maybe finish off the fingers on the GK Dread force halberd, we shall see. I don't wanna give the Chaplain back to my mate!! lol, I wanna keep him.

Looking good there Shrike. I have the same Chappie, and I have to say it's a fantastic model. Really nice freehand on the chapter badge, too.

Very nice Chaplain Shrike.
My vote's for the GK's - troops before tanks. Otherwise for the GK Dreadnaught.

KayvaanShrike
24-08-2007, 21:41
Well before I went out to see my mates band play (just back now from that) I started work on the Techmarine, the poor guy was sitting on his own undercoated, screaming "PAINT ME, PAINT ME!" so I did. He has has a few layers of red gore, and the brown wash, then another coat of red gore.

May not be much painting done over the next few days as I have work tomorrow, then going to see the gf for the weekend.

But check back as there will be an update as soon as possible!

KayvaanShrike
29-08-2007, 11:41
Right well I have got the red pretty much done on the Techmarine, just a highlight with some blood red and that will be done. Do you think that doing the toothed shoulder pad rims in alternate black/white would look good? Got the day off on Thurs, so will do some more work then, and put some pics up for you!

I am off Uni yes, but alas something has to pay for the beer and that would be my crappy job, the job that keeps me there until ungodly hours of the morning. (14 hour shifts are not fun, and as a result I now loath weddings)

Slaaneshi Slave
29-08-2007, 21:55
14 hours? Thats a normal working day for me... Well, 10-11 normally, then up to 14-15 1 week out of three when I'm on duty. :(

29-08-2007, 21:58
Yeah but this is just a part time job for some cash lol. And we don't get any breaks, so am on the go on my feet for that length of time, not fun.

Right well since there is some interest here, here is the Techmarine as it stands, bear in mind this is very WIP. But I would like your thoughts on the red, as its the most complete.

So until tomorrow!! Adios

Right due to my house being fairly disrupted by building work, and fitting other things in around my hectic work schedule, I haven't got any painting done. I have made benches for the inside of my Chimera however, and only now do I regret not getting "grip plate" pattern plasticard when I last bought some, so completion of the Chimera will wait until I can get some of that to finish the interior.

And I will be upheaving all again in a few weeks when I move over to my new flat, but this year I have the internet for sure, so unlike last year I can continue to feed you lot pictures!

Will hopefully get some pics up soon, so please check back.

KayvaanShrike

I will try to get some painting done on something today, though doubt I will get much done. Its nice and sunny here today but its bo****ks freezing in my room (could be coz there are no bricks on one wall, and the roof slates are being removed as I type this)

Cheers for comments.

Hey there, sorry for the lack of updates, but its a little hectic at home just now with all the building work going on and me being relocated to the dining room for now. Though I did get bored and crack open the paints today and made a start on the last two GK's.

The red is not as bright as the pictures show, I am using my Mums camera for these and I think it was set on high colour, not sure as I don't use it much so don't know all the settings! Though the pics are clearer than with my mobile.

Bear in mind these are uber WIP.

Here is another update, decided since I had the camera I would take more pics, here is the WIP Dreadnought, base is only primed, and the torso has had some colour on it, still a fair bit to do on it though.

Tis standing on an Ungor, basically coz it looks like a 'lil daemon. I thought it was quite cool, even though in RL the daemon would be pulverized by the weight of a dreadnought, but hey I can dream!

Well thats because I have been on the Ammobunker, another forum that is soley dedicated to modelling/painting etc. The community there is great, welcoming and supporting.

Anyways in the mean time I have almost finished my Raven Guard army, just 2 units to do now. And my DH have grown a bit as well.

They are not Renegades lol. I use the floating Psyker as a Psyker in my Inq reintue, as he has no Chaos icons on him, so can be passed off as a psyker. The other guy I use as a Daemonhost, which can explain the chaos symbol on his chest. He has a manacle on his ankle to show hes restrained.

I have more DK Grenadiers on the way, so there will be another squad sometime in the future. There is also a Chimera for these guys too.

While I like the Predator turrets on Chimeras I think people often fall foul of the mounting/turret ring on them. Personally I would be filing/sanding the ring and reducing it to at least half the thickness. It currently looks to vulnerable to a well placed rocket.

Inquisition top hatch is cool though.

And the heads I am using
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/KayvaanShrike/Picture024.jpg

The heads are from Westwinds seperate head system, and are the WW2 Brit Para heads in helmets and berets. They are the closed I could get to modern UK helmets. The armys theme will be modern British forces. So they are going to be in desert camo, and the lasguns are converted to look like L1A1 SLRs are the SA80 is too hard to do, and they don't fit on Cadian arms anyway.

C&C please!

Nice stuff bro.

I really like the guadsmen and how they turned out.

I particularly like the demonhost, brilliant idea, and an osome execution.

The tanks seem pretty mundane compared to the 'wild' conversions you've done for the infantry, but I think that's alright, tanks are centre pieces to begin with anyway, the infantry should have some spotlight!

sj

KayvaanShrike
02-06-2008, 21:36
Cheers mate.

The Chimera is for the Inq Stormtroopers. Not great with tanks, not had many really, and marine ones don't lend themselves for conversion very well.

I think that for the IG being British themed, some conversion will have to go on with their tanks. Chimeras could be converted to look more like Warriors if possible. Basilisks I was going to use the FW ones, as they look like AS90s already, or if I was being brave I could try to convert them. Schoolcormorant has just done that over on the Ammobunker, and it looks really good, so its possible.

Stay tuned, will update when theres something more to show!

Catferret
03-06-2008, 01:13
SA80's are doable if you can be bothered shelling out for the Elysian rifles from FW. A bit of filing and resculpting gives you a weapon very close to an SA80. Fits Cadian arms with a little work.

Will probs get shouted at for ressurecting this very dead thread, but its better than starting a new one.

Not been around much as I have been busy with my involvement at the Ammobunker.

I have recently started painting the new Hector Rex and retinue and have finished the 3 cronies so far. They are based the same as the rest of my daemonhunters army, which is slowly increasing in size. I have 4 Termies (GK) undercoated and ready to add into the force as well.

However the combination of Krieg releases, Inquisitor Rex, and seeing some of the wonderful minatures you've been putting out have inspired me to start again- not to mentiont he fact that my girl friends buying me old rexy boy as a valentines present :)

And so basically I would just like to say- nice painting and modelling,
and also that once my new army is up and running- which will be some time in the next month as I'm going new york on monday, that I hope you comment on my blog and also that you continue with yours!

Your Raven guard are also nice btw, I have a soft spot for marines as the only army I kept was my crimson fists.

So anyways nice models, keep at it, and subscribed!

Just a note, I mainly post over on The Ammobunker now (same username) so feel free to join there as well, and stick a log there. http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/176217/1/

Thats the link to my log on the site.

Thanks again for the comments, and I will keep an eye out for your log on here and perhaps on the 'Bunker!

Cheers

Right I have made a start to the Inq Rex model himself now. Well to be exact, his storm shield. Here are some WIPS.

The gold on the shield is still WIP, as is the red (just needs 1 more highlight).

The bone colour on the hand is the same as how the rest of his armour will be.

Cheers Col. Wales.

Doing more work on the shield, and also trying out the armour colour on the Inq himself, you never know might not look right in the end, so checking it out just now.

What an amazing colour scheme. I was looking for a dirty red to paint my khorne warriors (I know its heresy, just dont send your inquisitor to hunt me down haha). Im looking forward to your Inquisitor Rex model being completed.

Cheers for the comments.

Haven't done much more as Uni has been busy etc etc. But I did start painting the Inqs leg armour, so you can get a better idea of how it looks on the model himself.

Thanks Munting. I like to think my painting skills have come on over the years! The Space Wolves won't be an army, they were just a one off. I do have the remnants of a Space Wolf army though.

RL is busy and so no progress really. I have some AI planes to paint up as well, so can show them here when they are done. Need to get them done soonish as there is a deadline of 26th April for them, due to them being needed at the Ammobunkers Open Day at Warhammer World.

Here are some more WIP shots of the Inq. They make the armour look more patchy than it is, its smoother in RL.
