View Full Version : LemonPotato's Generic Project Log.

14-02-2007, 18:25
Well here is my project log which will basically contain everything that I paint or convert. As is customary, here are some pictures of my workspace:

And here is a picture of the kitchen table, which I started to use instead of tidying up my desk:

I really need to get around to having a serious tidy up soon, or my mum is going to flip about the kitchen table!

On topic though, here is a picture of my assembled vyper for my mechanised eldar army. I have converted it to have an underslung shuriken cannon as I could not find a way of attaching it any other way:

More piccies will be coming very soon, including some test models from my first dire avenger unit. Here is a link to my mechanised eldar army list, I am hoping to make it quickly next week (half term) and debuting it at the GT final this march.

So that is about all for now,

Do you have a pic of your grey knights?

I hope your better than your brother at keeping logs.

14-02-2007, 18:36
I will get you some pictures right away and post them on my Grey Knight log. Forgot all about them  .

14-02-2007, 19:13
Hahahaha! I pity your mum.

You could have a race with your brother. Who can finish their eldar the fastest.

14-02-2007, 19:40
That is not a bad idea at all, I will beat him hands down though as he will start a new army next week ;) .

15-02-2007, 13:09
So an update, much of this morning has been spent tidying up as I think you will all agree that my workplaces were getting way out of hand. Here is the tidy table:

And here is my first finished dire avenger, I am not sure whether I like this colour scheme or not so I was hoping to get opinions from fellow Warseer members. The main colour is dark green which is the colour that all of my tanks will be painted eventually. Here is the picture:

So any thoughts?

15-02-2007, 13:16
I think the green needs more contrast. It is fairly dark, which contrasts a lot with the bone gun and helmet, but that makes the highlights on the green less prominent. I would go for a more shading/highlighting on the green.

I'm not sure how well the blue of the helmet goes with the the other colours... I'll get back to you on that. :p

Well sorry for so long without an update, I have been so busy lately with the GT final and all.

Today I have been painting some deathwing terminators, I think i have caught this new Dark Angel fever off of someone.

Here are some piccies,

The first finished terminator:

Hope you like.

How are you painting the bone?

17-03-2007, 08:46
Good start mate, I'm going to have to take a closer look at your deathwing.

And show you how to use a camera

17-03-2007, 19:06
And show you how to use a camera

I have just got a brand new camera today with more options than you can shake a stick at, I am currently playing around with some pictures to see what this baby can do...

Dave, the bone is an undercoat of white. This is then painted with thin bone paint and then given a brown ink. I then painted bone onto the raised areas and extreme highlights with white. I am also going to ass in some 50:50 bone/white highlights on other raised areas (like the shoulder pads etc).

Here is a test picture of my undead necromancer. (Who will be going to Carnage North as a Battle Wizard using the Lore of Death)

And here is another picture of the chaplain featured earlier in this thread. The photo is not yet perfect but it is clearer than the previous ones.

Have been playing with the camera some more and have taken this picture of my Warrior Priest for Carnage North.

And here is yet another picture of that Chaplain, however I do believe this to be the best one I have taken yet...

NOTE! I have deleted all pictures from this post so that people can load it in less than an hour...

At last an update, I know that this is well overdue but I have been really busy (watching TV, playing Warhammer and playing Warcraft  )

Here is my WIP Eldar Farseer for my mechanised army, I will also be posting pics of a Falcon up later. I have chosen this blue and white colour scheme as the colour scheme for my whole army.

I know it isnt perfect but oh well. (I have to confess that I had never painted anything white before this  )

I would really like ideas on how to paint the blades on this guy, as I do not want any metallics on anything in the army. After doing grey knights and Iron Warriors I really dont want to paint anything shiny now.

The gems will be red when I get around to doing them, again something I have never attempted before but we all have to start somewhere.

You will also see that these photos are good, that is because I have finally found the light compensation function...

Enjoy, more pictures coming later as I have some serious catching up to do...

Oh really :eyebrows: .

Dont be afraid of painting white, unless you're painting over black!

I'd say paint the blades with a red marble effect, it'll add a good contrast

04-04-2007, 09:15
I did paint the white over black...

I used SpikyJames' method of painting shadow grey, then space wolves grey and then building up skull white all in thinned coats. I have to say that this tutorial worked out really well.

I will try the red later, with some red gems and blades it should help break up the large areas of blue and white.

Thankyou for that pearl of wisdom that you have bestowed upon me, I feel honoured :wtf: .

On another note the farseer is finally finished but I am afraid my plans of doing the falcon has turned into 2 Grey Knight Dreadnoughts being repainted to a much better standard. These are not finished quite yet but I will post piccies when they are.

I have decided to complete my eldar with some scenic resin bases. These will be completed with snow flock. I have also now decided to take this army to the GT heats later this year.

For now though the finished Farseer will have to do:

I would like to thank Chunk for the idea of red blades. These will be gloss varnished along with the gems later so that it gets a marble effect.

Comments and Critiscm welcome (I know the white is a bit thick in places...)

06-04-2007, 18:03
he looks realy good lemon keep it up

06-04-2007, 18:04
farseer's looking good mate, good to see the white recipe worked out for you.

09-04-2007, 18:07
Thanks everyone for the replies.

Have been busy making terrain peices with Chunk and Cookiescrumble as we are planning on starting a gaming club soon.

Here is what we have come up with as a combined effort for today.

Some jungle ruins:

Another jungle ruin at the time being painted by Cookiescrumble:

And last but not least are some foamboard buildings that we have made, the bases will be sanded and then they will be painted up in a desert colour scheme:

So comments and critiscm welcome, I am sure I will get round to painting some more eldar soon. Just not this evening as a load of trees that we have made today are to be based, sprayed and painted.

09-04-2007, 19:38
Good work lad, we'll soon have more terrain than we can shake a stick at.

01-05-2007, 17:56
Well looks like it is finally time for an update. (After 3 Weeks  )

Have been playing around for Dire Avenger colour schemes for my eldar army lately and have settled on this:

Comments and critiscms welcome.

01-05-2007, 20:34
he looks realy good lemon :)

01-05-2007, 23:21
Looks excellent. Very good white for a first attempt. Better than my first try.

Tsen Out

02-05-2007, 10:09
That is very nice - the bone and white are very clean. I might highlight/shade the crest on the helmet a bit more to give it more definition.

02-05-2007, 10:16
Aye, highlights are needed on the crest, while some some shading is needed for the recesses of the bone, and the white on the helm and legs. However, definitely a good start.

The gems look excellent and contrast well.

12-05-2007, 19:10
Another update, they are slowly becoming more frequent  .

Since the last update I have bought myself some new brushes as I am sick and tired of GW brushes either getting knackered quickly or the bristles parting constantly when I am painting. I decided to get myself some Winsor and Newton Series 7 miniature brushes, ( I have all of them ranging from 3 to 000). Also some brush soap so they should stay in good condition...

Also I know that I have a ridiculous amount of projects on the go at the moment, but who doesn't. I have decided to try and solve this problem by starting another project :wtf: . I am going to spend the next few weekends painting my Warmaster army.

I currently have 4 units of halberdiers, 4 units of crossbowmen, a unit of flaggelants, 2 cannons, some characters, some skirmisher stands and 2 units of knights with a unit of pistoliers. This will prove to be a good starting point for the army and once this is painted I will probably expand by adding more cavalry.

I do not really know that much about Warmaster but the models are certainly a test to paint. I have currently painted the cannons and am in the process of painting the crewmen for them, after this I will finish some halberdiers that I have started but these guys are taking ages because for some reason I decided to do a quartered colour scheme on them...

Should have some pictures very soon, my camera is not good enough to take pictures of Warmater models as I only have some rubbish digital zoom thingy-majiggy but tomorrow I will borrow a decent camera with optical zoom to take some pictures.

I am really determined to finish this project as I am not going to let it join the long list of unfinished projects...

Encouragement, comments and criticsms are always welcome,

12-05-2007, 20:42
Lol, great solution to the too-many-projects problem. And those super 7s look nice, I need to buy some as well.

01-10-2007, 07:37
nice stuff, if u got time mind post up the finished jungle ruins and how much do the series 7 brushes run for?
