It is a concept sketch painted years ago.

It looks a lot like something out of the Front Mission series of games. I would definitely be very interested in a good mecha miniature line.

Heck, I'd be interested in that just to paint it. :D

I love mecha, and if they can produce ones that look as good as this, then I'd definitely be interested.

If only they'd make real ones. Probably not as good as tanks, but they certainly look the dog's dangly bits.

The mecha suit (the figure, not the painting) is supposedly for a game which will ship with pre-painted, pre-assembled minis, la Mechwarrior.

Where did you hear that? Haven't seen anything like that mentioned on theminiaturespage.com or frothers.

It's on one of the threads on the Rackham forums themselves. Someone from Rackham talked about the line and said pre painted to a very high standard.

Considering Rackham's standards, that's probably a good thing. If not, simple green 'em.

Hmm,
The top art work is from another system and I met them at the Comic con and that figure will be almost 12 inches tall??

And the other fig is Front Mission 4 figs and I saw them also at comic con and they are about the size of a Crisis Suit.
When I talked to them they simpley said they will be available as a toy around september painted and done.

Nothing about a game??

But hey I would love a mech game dont get me wrong but that would be weird to be at a Convention and say your figs are for sell and say nothing about a game from Rackham?

Weird but hey heres my proof I talked to them and even photo'd the new figs, so I dont know whos spreading rumors or if there telling the truth only time will tell.

Need. Oh yes.

While similar, I doubt the Rackham mecha and the Front Mission 4 are part of the same range.

For one, Front Mission 4 is a Playstation video game and I doubt Rackham would seek external Intellectual Properties for one of their game.

Secondly, the minis look different. The feet of the Rackham mecha lack the heel stability peg of the FM4 humanoid range. The chest assembly are different as well and the hand held weapons look very different in style.

Sorry, but I think this one's not going to stick.

Those figures in the pic don't look anything like the Rackham piece.

This was in Rackham's financial report and has been backed up by Rackham people on their own boards.

Yeppers. That pic is from their PDF financial report.

Even says they are creating a new universe different from the Confrontation/Ragnarok world. Then links that pic and talks about it in very little detail.

Looks like I'm finally going to get to fight with Gundams ;)

Don't worry about it Greydeath. We'll know soon enough how this all fits together :) (hopefully in 2006, but knowing Rackham it might be more along the lines of 2007-2008 given that Cadwallon hasn't been released yet).

The current hypothesis is that Rackham used the FM4 mini as an example of the commercial concept it wishes to develop, maybe because they wouldn't or couldn't show in-house prototypes.

[Edit] More info on the FM figures at the official website (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fm/) (select Special on the top menu, then either Wallpaper or the link between Wallpaper and Movies)

Well you can see the Front Mission figures here (http://www.hlj.com/product/ENX40380) and I can't see a match although there are similarities.

Hum... Similar, but still very different (less detailled for example).

Oh well, the question has been asked on the French Rackham forums. We'll see if any of the "red dragons" deigns answer :)

OH that makes alot more sence.
See I love the FM4 figs.
So if they are going for there type of design with more details and what not excellent.

And this is not the first I have heard of this.
On the Racham site for Ragnorok it has been brought up several times.
I believe it I just couldn't believe thats what the figs where going to look like thats all.

Sweet and thanks for the looking out for me.

http://www.rackham.fr/Analyse%20financiere.pdf

open the pdf and look at the pic. The mech isnt imo anything like the FM4 stuff. The financial report says, beside that picture (i'm french) that they are retouching the subcontracting of production for a new futuristic thematic with plastic models.

The page before, "2- Effets de levier... etc 2006"

It says that new games are projected a few tri-mesters in advance. In Quarter 1 2006 there will be a new game, Cadwallon(im guessing since its based in the world of Ragnarok) and in Quarter 4 the new universe (which would be mecha). They are releasing them apart so that the sales don't eat into each other and cut profits. To maximise sales they put time between releases.

If u want other parts translated just ask.

I wonder why they are taking the pre-painted path... surely players will want to paint their own mechas?

Sojourner

As far as I understand from that Rackham statement, they're talking almost entirely about a single goal: Beat Games Workshop.

well its possible they will release high quality pre-painted stuff and hopefully, non painted kits.

GW needs a run for their money... bunch of bastards
