View Full Version : Best epic model

i think the best looking model for epic would have to be the space marine dreadnoughts.

They did a multipart epic power armoured marine a while back... Utter gimmick... Best Epic model ? Probably a toss-up between the Imperator and Mega Gargant. Some of the Ork Dragsters were pretty cool too ^_^

The Imperator Titan. :D

IMO, most of the pre-1997 stuff looks goofy and undetailed by today's standards. The 1997 Warlord Titan is nice, though; nice design, imposing. I think my favorite might switch to the new Tigershark AX-1-0 once it comes out, though; its pictures are great.

IMO, most of the pre-1997 stuff looks goofy and undetailed by today's standards.

Which is why they're brilliant!

I love the Titans - all of them - but the Imperator is the best.

Have to admit... I think most -POST- Titan Legions stuff looks dull and uninspired. Hence why I only play Pre-Epic 40,000 epic. The new stuff is just a) of a lower quality, b) more difficult to buy, and c) comes packaged with a rules set which, whilst better than the horrible 'Epic 40k' rules, still is a little bit short of being as good as those for 'Space Marine'.

I'd forgotten about those. You're right, the newest Eldar Revenant titans (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99110304033&orignav=300808) are excellent. Finally, an Eldar titan that looks speedy but fragile - do they pose well? They're the only decent Eldar titans I've ever seen - the "ribbed curvy Warlord Titan" look of the 1997 ones (http://au.geocities.com/markconz/epicgallery.html) was terrible.

I love many of the Epic models across all the Eras of the game, like the early metal Ork Gun Wagons, the Imperator, the new Space Marine Landing Craft...

But my all-time favourite is, and I think shall remain, the MK3 Epic 40k era Metal Warlord. It is such an excellent model that, to me, it is almost iconic. Just seeing a picture of one painted says 'EPIC' to me better than any miniature from the entire range.

either the Epic 40k SM Librarian or the marine dreadnought from the Stompas boxed set (the one that inspired the FW Mk4), cant stand the Epic Mk5 ~ even the epic versions of the RT era dreadnoughts look better (and i HATED the 40k scale ones)

FW stuff is almost always better than GW stuff, that's a given. So barring FW minis my favourite GW Epic minis would have to be the Eldar Super Heavy tanks. That Scorpian is a badass  !

I've loved the Reaver titan since Adeptus Titanicus, with the wide face, powerfist, lascannon on left arm, and missile barrage on the carapace. It's one of the things that got me into Epic, and while each version of epic brought a different look and feel to the models, the Reaver has looked great even after all of this time. I can't get enough of them.

I agree completly I have always liked this model from day one and that would be why I own about 20 of them. The MK1 beetle back warlord is not far behind though.

The Imperator Titan. :D

Iíve never liked the Imperator. It takes the gothic look too far if you ask me.

My favourite Epic model would be the Forgeworld Warhound.

Space Marine was the first GW game i played and I loved the models even though some seem a bit basic and odd by todays standards but out of all of them i'd have to say that the original ork great gargant was a fantastc model it just fitted the orky image so well
In the newer range the space marine landing craft looks really good and the current warlord titan looks pretty cool as well

I have problems with selecting best. But these are at the top definitely.

- Forge World Warhound
- Space Marine characters commander (the one with the cloack and banner) and medic
- Land Speeders

I have to agree. The Reaver is one of my favorites with the Beetleback a close second.

I'm going to have to go with the FW Warhound for the current range, and Ordinatus Mars for the classic ones. the Imperator is prety high up for me, too, and I'm hoping FW would make a new one.

Take your pick:

(Disclaimer - I had a fair bit of help from two friends back in Dublin while painting the army up!)

I'd probably go for either the Custodian, or for the Protector (which I use as a Moray in Epic).

If we include FW then I have to say that the Vampire Raider looks promising.

Looking just at the GW models (at least those I own), I cast my vote to the humble Land Raider. No special reason - I don`t even play SMs - but I like the looks of that tank when he rumbles in.

You'll notice that all the new SG Eldar EPIC models that look like FW ones were sculpted by FW sculptor Will Hayes (the Scorpion and Revenant) so I count them as FW models (SG obviously snavelled the originals to make metal ones instead of resin).

I also like the 1997 Warlord - one of Dave Andrews' best models eva!

Hayes was only ever a FW sculptor, SG snagged him from them.

He pretty much sculpted all the Eldar and Tau FW vehicles, EPIC and 40k scale.

I have so many epic models that I love.

The FW Grey Knight Infantry! How can you fit so much detail on such a small miniature.

The FW Valkyres are really cool and the new Eldar Avatar looks really cool.

I also rate some of the Warmaster daemon miniatures as amongst the best Epic models even though they aren't technically Epic they make dam good proxies. Especially that big slug like Nurgle things. That has to be on of my favourite models of all time.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/AngustheUnruled/GDofNurgle.jpg

But then the Khorne War Machines Rock also. This is probably my second favourite model of all time.

My fave FW model has to be the Lucius Pattern Reaver Titan with the 3 multiple missile launchers.

And that Khorne warmachine reminds me of those Segues :P

Just love the vastness of them.
And of course the Lord of Battles - the picture of that on the cover of the renegades box set and a White Dwarf just makes me drool every time I see it. If I can find I'll post it.

wow, nice scratch builds! Kudos sir.

as for best models... I would vote Imperator Titan
close second would be the reaver, its too damn cool!
However, the Nurgle plague engines and Slaanesh Knights were fantastic, coming in my forst and second ever WD's, I loved them. One day I will scratch build a Plague tower!

I'm getting such a hankering for Epic at the moment. It feels like a revival is just around the corner. Seems like Epic is getting a bit of love from the community at the moment!
