If it's somewhere, it's at the Specialist website (http://www.specialist-games.com/battlefleetgothic/Default.asp).

Here is one method (save to PC): Smotherman (www.portmaw.com/docs/smotherman_formula.pdf)

There are one or two other popular methods, but I can't remember their names. They used to be linked in the old BFG forums, but then GW closed and locked them. Try asking in the new Specialist Games forum.

Be advised that any ship design rules that you may find for BFG are NOT in any way official! This includes the Smotherman rules mentioned and linked by mostholycerebus, and any others that may be found (including what's in Army Builder).

The Specialist Games and BFG Rules Review people have repeatedly said over the years that BFG has no official ship design rules, and it isn't intended that it ever will. The opinion seemed to be, and still seems to be, that any such design system would just give a tacit approval to power-gaming "monster-uber-killer-ships-of-death" creation, and so is to be avoided.

That said, I personally find the Smotherman formula to be a pretty fair means for getting a starting value for a home-made ship design, a place to begin play-testing for later adjustment. The Smotherman system isn't fool-proof, it often needs to be adjusted a little or maybe more than a little..... but it does work decently well, as long as one doesn't try to make up something crazy.

Just don't expect everyone to accept the product as anything other than an "unofficial house rules" creation!
