View Full Version : Elven Warbands

I am completely new to Mordheim (only mordheim, not WHFB in general) and my friends and I were considering starting up a campaign. I had a quick look through the rulebook for an Elven warband but couldnt find any... I believe that there are some though...

Can anyone direct me to where I might find the rules for Elven warbands?

The specialist games web page. (http://www.specialist-games.com/mordheim/articles.asp)

There are links to dark elf under one of the lustria campain "Cities of gold" (I belive it is 2 or 3)

Th high elf have one as well. Called Shadow Warrior. It's under the rule book (http://www.specialist-games.com/mordheim/rulebook.asp) part of the page

Please note that elfs are considered overpowered in Mordheim (unlike warhammer) due to the simple fact that they can stand on top of buildings and shoot. And some warior cant climb up to get them.

This is true, . On the other hand they can be awsome against dwarves. ( equiped with hunting arrows:D )

All my heros in my warband were equiped with hunting arrows they had the quickshot rule aswell which is over powered.

Indeed, they had their 'official' status revoked and were withdrawn from the game (the shadow elves, that is).

I don't know if there is wood elf for mordheim. I figured it might be in the "empire in flames" rules. In the part about darkwald. But have not heard anything a bout it

i used the wood elf models for my shadow warriors because they look more ' shadowy ' rather than the high elf scum :D

Yea that you can do... I agree that the glade guards fitt the henchmen of the shadow warrior warband. Only paint them in shades of gray and blue.

But still you use high elf rules. I was looking for wood elf rules. witch I don't think exist.

I don't think there are any wood elf rules to be honest

Mordheimer has an experimental Wood Elf warband here (http://www.mordheimer.com/warbands/experimental/wood_elves.htm). Just keep in mind that it's experimental, ie. completely unofficial and not nesscessarily balanced.

As an alternative, there are also these experimental rules here (:"http://madnergal.com/brahmsworld/Mordheim/PDFs/wood%20elf%20warband.pdf"). They are more wardancer oriented and as such avoid much of the brokeness inherent in the Shadow Elves.

That being said, like the ones Dymwyn pointed out, they are wholly unofficial and to be used at your own risk :).

There's the proper URL for it. Yers is a bit Borked Lord 0 ;)

Shadow Warriors:

No longer official. They're broken if the player picks up the Elven Artillery model.

Dark Elves: Lustria

Broken. like, flat out insane so.

I would sugest when running or even being a part of a fair campaign just say no to elves. They may be what you play in WFB but just try your fate at other races. Maybe one day there will be a good well balanced elven warband (hurm future project?) but not now.

Or you make a limit on missile weapons. Somethin like maximun 4 models may carry thme.

I don't think that's quite fair, Deng Ham. After all, what happens to shooty lists like Reiklanders and Pirates if warbands are limited to 4 missile weapons? Or were you just making that suggestion only for Elven warbands?

I concur that even only having only got halfway towards it that the Elven quickshot spam is horridly nasty. That doesn't necessarily imply that the whole list should be thrown away. You just need to establish an understnding with the player using the Elven list that shooting spam is unacceptable and that he is under a kind of a 'probationary period' where he is allowed to play the list, but lead it in a more balanced direction. I mean if you max out on hero's, with the cost of Elves nearly half your 'band starts out at WS 5. Try a few combat characters. It's only one playstyle possible from the list that is really a problem IMO.

Last campaign I played in due to lack of funds I grabbed a Wood Elf hero and a few blisters of Waywatchers and made a Elven band, but played them more as a mid-range mobile force (yes. I actually engaged in combat on more thanone occaision. Elven initiative + diving charges ftw) than the long range missile-fests that seemed to dominate our area due to our high number of players, but low amount of terran, meaning tables were rather...open. An had a great deal of fun, without thoroughly pawning any warband I came across. Swansea's old Mordheim gang used to be great fun, and I was kinda infamous for crazy in character stuff. Replacing the giant rats in my clan Eshin Warband with 'Ninja Monkeys'. Shame. I miss the 'old days'. Maybe I should dust of my 'Elven Second Story Ninjas', give them a fresh coat of paint and take them out for a spin.

Maybe when Uni quiets down....
