Your skills are most impressive

25-02-2008, 07:56
Your green stuff skills are amazing, your stuff just blows me away.

25-02-2008, 11:08
I assume this is procreate your working with? Do you find it any easier than GS or BS to work with? What do you consider to be the pros and cons of it?

His Master's Voice
25-02-2008, 11:47
Yup, its ProCreate

It's less sticky than Green Stuff more sticky than Brown Stuff (both a good thing since Brown Stuff can sometimes be a bit difficult to attach to already layered detail).
The detail threshold is pretty much the same in all three, though Pro Create, just like BS, does not swell. In other word it does not have the memory effect GS sometimes has. Thus making small detail requires less force (they don't have to be deep enough to accommodate the "spring back" GS can cause). GS, and in some cases Brown Stuff, seems to have problems with blending (you need to use a metal tool to force it down), Pro Create does not (at least the standard mix doesn't have the problem as you can use a simple clay shaper to smooth it down). GS is good for "overblown" shapes as here the "swelling" has a positive effect on the shapes of muscles. Brown Stuff and Pro Create are essentially better for armor and hard shapes though with enough experience (like Brian Nelson experience ;)) you can get good armor effects with Green Stuff.

That's looking great! :)

Fins and membranes ready (with the exception of the membrane between the uppermost fin and back muscles). I think I'd need to do some more detail on those.

How big is he compared to a regular sized model?

His Master's Voice
25-02-2008, 18:23
The base is a standard 25mm. The model is around 40mm tall.

25-02-2008, 18:34
wonderful job there! top notch. Im really looking forward on seeing how this mini turns out with such a great start

I had to scrap the wings as the customer wanted them to look more damaged and worn. I'm still not finished with the look of those...

26-02-2008, 22:25
Really nice work, can't wait to see it finished!
I prefer this version of the wings, they look better, more ancient..

His Master's Voice
27-02-2008, 18:21
Wings finished, ears added.

27-02-2008, 20:58
It's looking mean. :)

27-02-2008, 20:59
I don't think I have posted here for ages, but your latest piece is simply too inspirational for me to keep quiet. I am quite simply in awe of how much life you can breathe into your miniatures - mastefully done.

Holy S**t that's bloody amazing:eek:, I bow down for your godlike sculpting skills.

02-03-2008, 20:08
He looks a little top heavy, I think the feat could be a little bigger

He must be a loper like a Gorilla. You know with the wings being so small he's obviously not a flyer, and the feet being so small he obviously doesn't spend much time standing upright, also his arms are significantly longer your standard biped. So the only conclusion is that he lopes along the ground (which would make him significantly faster than a human, or any biped that doesn't also lope for that matter).

Got a link to Hasting's member account (seeing as he doesn't appear on the memberlist...)?

03-03-2008, 13:26
It's looking great, but he doesn't seem to have any lips?

His Master's Voice
03-03-2008, 14:14
No, he does not have lips. It's a chaos creature after all, they aren't well known for being pretty :P...

03-03-2008, 14:51
Your work in this log is astonishingly good, but that beast is by far the best. What a sculpt! I am in awe.

04-03-2008, 06:21
Man that beast is just awesome, enough said.

04-03-2008, 07:58

Love the chaos minatour (sp?) So what are you working on next?

04-03-2008, 08:22

I think his feetsies need to be bigger;)

His feet are small because he's a loper damnit! :chrome:

05-03-2008, 19:05
I had to come here and post after seeing your work on Hasting's log.
This Vampire chappy is equally impresive. Love what you do with muscles.
Wondreful sculpting. You got skills.

I'm back.

Some of you might have wondered why I'm gone or why those commissions are taking so damn looooooonnnnnnggggg to start or finish. Partially it was because of work and private life. Partially because of this guy

17-04-2008, 11:56
*screaming guitar solo as HMV explodes out of some newb's chest*

Big, awesome stalking guy, great musculature as always. Interested in seeing what he is / what he'll be armed with (big stabby fingers work too).

Good to have you back HMV :skull:

I have no idea what that things going to be but i want to paint it! Thats astounding. What size is it, any chance of a pic with some scale? That thing is monstrous, looks like a baron of hell on steroids, i wish i could do muscles that well. I look forward to your next update

His Master's Voice
19-04-2008, 17:08
Size comparison. I think all Spice Mice are the same size.

It was supposed to be a 54 mm Strigoi but it could pass as a generic demon or Varghulf in most armies.

19-04-2008, 21:54
I've browsed all your log, and i'm very impressed.
Your sculpt like a pro, that's great.
I love your daemons, and your khorne conversion.

19-04-2008, 22:28
looking great! here i am thinking im doing a passable job at this sculpting thing... and here you are showing up all us noobs!

great stuff!

04-05-2008, 16:05
Your sketches are amazing. Your sculpting is awesome. I'm a fun of your work.

Now I want to make a minotaur by muself. Can I borrow some ideas from your sketches? Just like this.

04-05-2008, 16:09
That Strigoi is really great. You got some incredible talent HMV!

Haha, I'm back!

A sneak peak preview of my first commercial sculpt

BTW Anyone who has a pending commission, be assured I'm working on them so unless you think you can't wait any longer and want to cancel it now (and thats not a problem if you have to) I'll get in touch with all of you sooner or later (more likely sooner).

20-05-2008, 19:17
Wow, it's amazing! What really impresses me is the fact that you've done veins as well on the muscles! Immense.

20-05-2008, 21:45
wow that is amazing

keep up the good work

20-05-2008, 22:04
He looks a biggun!

Looking forward to seeing how he develops.

20-05-2008, 22:24
Nice work here HMV. Looking good. I wil probably pick one of these up dependant on price.

Looking forward to that PM;):D

20-05-2008, 22:55
Whoah! I likes!

21-05-2008, 08:11
That latest sculpt is one of the best things I have ever seen. That's getting cast up and released by someone then is it? I love it.

Talented git :p

21-05-2008, 10:32
Talented git, but me, being me has two minor niggles about it. I think the armour plates need sharper edges and possibly some detailing. And I also think the faces you do are a bit samey over a lot of your sculpts, with the exposed teeth and flat nose and skulllike head. I hope I haven't been to harsh tough ;)

21-05-2008, 10:55
Amazing work ! And that's little to say
The way you sculpt muscles is totally brilliant, no flaw at all.
I was wondering if you could post a pic of all your WIP, if it's not confidential.

And also, when are we going to see some female mini? I noticed in one of your post a concept sketch of a female (looked like an elf). Have you already given it a go?

Keep up the good work, it truly is inspirational

21-05-2008, 23:34
It's looking very good. Will you add some cheeks?

Metal Fingered Villain
22-05-2008, 07:31
This new sculpt looks promising, a lot of your other work felt a little plain, I'm interested where the new one is going.
