View Full Version : Foundation paints - where are the names from?

I was looking at the list of new foundation paints and I recognise some of the names, but not all of them. I'm a 40k player, so I'm not too knowledgable on the Warhammer World. Please could someone tell me what I'm missing and/or correct any I've got wrong?

Astronomicon Grey (40k - an Imperial book?)
Adeptus Battlegrey (40k - something Imperial?)
Fenris Grey (40k - Space Wolves homeworld)
Necron Abyss (40k - Race)
Mordian Blue (40k - Imperial Guard regiment/world)
Hormagaunt Purple (40k - Tyranid troops)
Mechrite Red (?)
Macharius Solar Orange (40k - a Space Marine primarch?)
Iyanden Darksun (40k - Eldar world)
Tausept Ochre (40k - Tau Empire)
Tallarn Flesh (40k - Imperial Guard regiment/world)
Calthan Brown (?)
Gretchin Green (40k - Ork troops)
Knarloc Green (40k - Tau Empire: Kroot mounts)
Orkhide Shade (40k - Orks!)
Charadon Granite (?)
Khemri Brown (WFB - Desert/Tomb Kings homeland)
Dheneb Stone (?)

From those that I (think I) know there seems to be a lot more 40k than WFB. Just a random observation.

Astronomicon Grey (40k - the Astronomicon is a choir of psykers that direct a beacon into the Warp, allowing Imperial ships to navigate)
Adeptus Battlegrey (40k - 'Adeptus' is an Imperial title given to members of certain orginisations such as Space Marines or to high-ranking civilians)
Mechrite Red (no idea - google just turns up web pages about the paint)
Macharius Solar Orange (40k - a legendary Imperial Guard commander, actually)
Calthan Brown (google just shows pages about the pain agai )
Charadon Granite (I think it's the name of an Ork empire)
Khemri Brown (WFB - Desert/Tomb Kings homeland)
Dheneb Stone (a city on Medusa V, according to a google search)
