Tzeentch

I am biased, because since day one with this hobby I have played Tzeentch.

Statistically for the points, the best daemon. The army also plays very differently then most other armies.

Also, why don't you wait to buy the codex until September? That is when it is rumoured that the new Chaos Codex will be released. It would save you some money, and then you can see what you want to do from that point forward.

I was tempted to say slaneesh, cus all the leather and S&M gear.........umm but Undivided will do, Iron warriors are the nicest undivided homies to do, but rather common

When you pick your army..pick it for the fluff and the way they look. This is a big deal since I think the rules are moot at this point...codex out at the end of the year(maybe). Do some research on the legions and the gods and pick what you like the best.

Entirely biased as well here having always played Slaanesh. I agree with the above though, go with the fluff and colour scheme you like best. If going for a compeitive list though, has to be undivided, generally the advantages of having a pure cult force are outweighed by the drawbacks.

As to why I play them, being primarily a painter that was solely what decided things, I love going wild with colours so an obvious choice, just glad that they have my second favorite fluff (Next to Thousand sons, nothing says Chaos like a bunch of evil, scheming sorcerers and wild mutations), have for now the most balanced cult list (ignoring siren) and the fantastic daemonettes. A lot better off than in 2nd Ed any way. ;)

Undivided, with the Iron Warriors as my inspiration. I would not worship Chaos, but use it to further my own bitter, miserable, terrible ends.

nurgle for some reason really appeals to me.

Undivided. Iron Warriors was the first army I played (even before the current chaos dex), I still have fond memories of them. Perhaps one day, if the Silver and Black power armor can be taken out of a case with out complaints of cheese based on appearance alone, I will return to them.

tzeentch. Because his 'lesser search function demon' is so powerfull...

If you get the army book next week...why don't you just wait, read internet fluff sources, look at the book and then decide yourself?

Has to be a foot slogging Nurgle army! Its a tough army to win with, but as guys at my gamming club say, its also a tough army to beat! :)

Who is Khrone?

Khrone is the Chaos Goddess of old ladies.

ForgeWorld is already working on a greater daemon of Khrone:

Tzeentch - Why fight a battle if you can manipulate your enemies to kill each other ? Oh and you get bad ass fluff and rubric models.

Word! Having T5 and a 3+ save on pretty much every model makes for a helluva tough force...only problem is that their lack of mobility (no bikes or raptors) and lack of long-ranged heavy weapons can give them fits when dealing with uber-mobile armies that can play "rope-a-dope" with them.

I play an infiltrating Death Guard force that's done quite well. I just move up to within rapid-fire range and let the enemy have it! They have enough short-range firepower to hang with pretty much anybody, and the toughness and armor to take sustained abuse longer than anyone but Necrons.

And for me, the old models with their "pickelhaube" spiked helmets and gas masks make them my favorite army visually!

Here's a great site for Nurgle love:

Nurgle for game play + fun to paint ( how good is typhus model by the way) but the winner is Slaanesh. Real men wear pink to war. Oh yeah they are also really Close range rapid fire army to play. I guess to choose you must decide what your fav Flavour is. Red angry dudes. green smelly dudes. Blue hahatry tokillme dudes (yes that was ment to be all 1 word) but from what i can tell tzenntch look cool but thats bout it. OR pink Boom box over the shoulder, do a bit of everything army. By the way undivided leads to a whole new field. Just please please please dont pick Iron warriors. everyone else has.

Nurgle for his defience fo death theme. Death Guard have fluff that I love and the look is very steam punkish.[dice0]

Having played Slaanesh for a long time, I say them, but for fluff, go with Tzeentch.

Even if you lose, you boldly state that it was Tzeentch's will that you lose to further his long term plots...

I vote Undivided, non-Iron Warriors (not for cheese, just for frequency).

If not them, Thousand Sons. Totally.

He got both Tzeentch AND Slaanesh right, I'm not gonna belabor him the typo. ;)

if you start with undivided you can make a flexible list that will still let you experiment with the cults. If after playing you like one of the cults more than the others you can put more into that one. If you don't like the cult you pick you can still use the undivided portion of the force to experiment with a new cult.

I wonder why everybody thinks on chaos space marines if someone says 'chaos gods'. The gods and especially the god's fluff are/is far more than some legion specific stuff. For more, unlike malal undivided chaos isn't a god.

Slaanesh for sure, you get an army that costs more than marines, can be all equipped with assault weapons, and is decent in combat. That and the forgeworld Keeper of Secrets is the sex.

And you don't need to paint them pink.

Tzeentch is by far the most interesting and unique Chaos God, he also has the most nightmarish daemons which have a distinct mystical HP Lovecraft flavour to them. Thousand Sons are also pretty damn brutal.

hey guys i plan on starting a chaos army in the near future and i dont know which god to choose. I will be getting the codex next thursday, but i want to know who you think i should choose and why.

Khorne, they kick ass in every way, they have the best daemons and greater daemons, they have the best close combat and they have the best motto: Blood for the Blood God!!

My vote goes to Tzeentch too.

Mainly cause my fave colour is blue :P

But their daemons are cool and look good, the marines look awesome, you can have big units of terminators and you have the best psykers in the game :P

Im playing slaanesh in the school tournament and im causing havoc! (TOP of the leader board!) due to the mount of tallons and -1 initative modles i have. althouch in a 600 pts list i only have 19 modles as opposed to the 24 + ive had to fight in most armies. 24 seems to be the average.

also there are some cool psychic powers like 'Fulled by pain' and "she who thirsts" which rock. aaaaaaaaaaand (my last point) rhinos (or ant other tank) with the siron thingy (i cant remember the name) are good for tank shocking people and making them annoying stand back and shoot units run off the board.

Just my thoughts. cya.

Go for chaos undecided, that way you can try each of the gods' units out and see which one appeals to you strongest. You don't need to buy squads for all of the chaos gods, just use stand in models to begin with then collect the right models once you've made your decision.

Tzeench.

Blood alone is carnage without cause, Disease can be cured, and temptation and excess resisted. Change, and the desire for power is eternal. The Imagery and subtlety of it is wonderful.

Nurgle!

You can have so much fun with conversions for nurgle because you can have any part from any army and make it a mutant! Rules and playstyle wise I don't know but modelling nurgle is the best!

Rot for the Rot God!

Well if you can, change Khrone to Khorne in the poll list. More people'll vote for it then, my theory anyway seeing as I have Khone army and rate them one above Nurgle, Undivided, then Tzeentch and Slaanesh.

Devil-Dice
22-04-2007, 07:45
Undivided all the way, why settle for one when you can have them all!

I love the idea of word bearers being able to take all those different Deamons and mix it up with there 9 troop choices. Of course this may change with the release of the new codex but ill probably still stick with em.

the votes are really close. still finding it hard to choose.

Which is exactly what chaos undecided is for. You don't have to permanently stick with undivided, just give them a try and use each of the different gods for elites choices until you have an idea as to which god to go for. If you still can't decide, stay undivided.

im liking the idea of starting with undivided then trying out the different gods.

Slaanesh.

Often viewed as androgenous sensualists. But it also encompasses pefection in all things. Not just excess in all things.

Tzeentch has played second-fiddle to the hammering of the C'tan into the story. The C'tan did everything nowadays, while Tzeentch is kinda a quiet voice of "Hawhaw, my plan that you thought failed actually worked!"

Deathguard or Undivided, namely Word Bearers, since Traitor Marine Chaplains have got to be all sorts of charismatic & psychopathic. Deathguard 'cause Grandfather Nurgle is the nicest Chaos God around.

Or failing that, Tzeentch. Play Thousand Sons and everyone loves you (mainly because they think they'll be getting an easy game, then you can surprise them by completely annihilating their forces  ).

For 40k, khorne is easily the most effective, with slaanesh coming in second.

Vesica: If you're interested in making your own Tzeentchian army and are also interested in unofficial armies, then have a look at the link in my sig and also the link I'll send you to my website. I happen to have the largest collection of homemade codexes on the internet, and they're pretty good (though I say so myself).

nooobie 69: I've thoguht of that before as well, although units with a mark can only have up to one veteran skill, so Infiltrate or Furious Charge, but not both. Also, just because rhinos take up FA slots it doesn't mean that you can't make a mechanised Nurgle army, just that you would probably have to include daemons in such an army.
