I want to take a moment to mention a 2,000-point 40K Tournament being held on August 27th at Other Realms in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

This event is going to be a lot of fun, and includes custom scenarios so that any special character, no matter how strong or how weak, has a chance to come off the display shelf and make an impact on the outcome of the game.

Here are the particulars:
All armies will be 2,000 points and must include one special character for that

1. No more than one Special Character per army. Some Special Characters may be represented by more than one model, however (e.g., Usarkar Creed & Jarran Kell, Col. Shaffer and Kage).

2. All participants are considered to have their opponent's permission for any Special Character that requires it.

3. No Special Characters from Forge World will be allowed.

4. Any other GW source for Special Characters is allowed (e.g., Games Day handouts, Chapter Approved).

5. All participants must bring a copy of the rules for their army's Special Character.

6. There is a 100 Victory Point bonus for each scenario if your army's Special Character is represented by the actual GW model for that Special Character. These points may also be earned by creating a conversion to represent this Special Character provided the conversion is primarily a GW model and has obviously been specifically designed to represent the character in question. Any edition of the Special Character is fine!

7. Tyranid players may select any Tyranid Special Character from the UK GW web site (uk.games-workshop.com)

8. Space Marine players who do not have a Special Character may select any Ultramarine Special Character for this tournament.

The Tournament is made up of three games. There will be prizes for Best Overall, Best General, Best Sportsman, and Best Special Character (a painting and conversion category - but the Special Character must still be recognizable as himself!)

If there are any questions about whether a Special Character is fairly represented by a miniature, the tournament organizer will make the final decision.
