Hey welcome to warseer.

First of all nice red, very nice red. Second sweet turtle, very sweet turtle. Third nice bases!:D

But I'll have to critique, too. Your pictures are far from showing your work of properly. Are you using a digital at all or is it a mobile?
Second try highlighting a little subtler, especially on the bases. Or even easier faster better for rocks is drybrushing.

I second janos, the red is great.

Is that water effects in the turtle tank, i really should get some of that stuff...

There are some guides to photo taking here:

(go down to photography)

Hope that helps and keep up the good work

Cheetah: I would post more pics but I just got back from GW, so its dark so im unable to to take good photos (I did manage to win 2 devestators 1 lascannon and 1 multi melta and an old skool librarian.)

Janos: im still experimenting with base schemes and sadly they aren’t my bases, I got them from back-to-base-ix(http://stores.ebay.com.au/Back-to-Base-ix), and my photos are being taken on my phone but I have got my camera so all is good.

Ninners: thanks for the link il have a look

EDIT: when i was at GW i picked up some brushes, undercoat, a whirlwind and foundation paints!! and i also got the games day vet sergeant for free

argh, no replies in a few days, always feel free to add any comment large or small. back on topic i have been busy with homework so no painting yet although i will start a power armoured pleb tomorrow..

01-05-2007, 09:13
Guess I will return the favour.

So far it is looking good with the Whirlwind. The Deathwing is also rather well-made, but is he really that dark, or is just my screen/eyes that has stopped working?

the varks

thanks murag. the deathwing isnt that dark but it is kinda pale brown in real life because i didnt do the highlights well so its looking quite brown. i will do the next deathwing termie better (im thinking ill do the banner next) and brighter. thanks for the support.

The DW termie looks very nice. You should probably drill out the gun barrels though. Keep up the good work

Nice looking Dark Angels mate, the whirlwind is very clean and crisp. The master of death wing is also nice, only crit on the termis is the blending could be a bit better, try dragging more paint into the other areas to get a much smoother transition of colours, if on the other hand you are just layering then it looks very nice!

Personally im not a fan of war machine but those look quite nice, its a nice change to the solid primary colours i always see used on warmachine stuff.

all in all good solid work, keep it up!

13-05-2007, 11:43
another Menoth player! Looking very good, nice to see something other than the white and gold (of which I am guilty of :( )

thanks guys for the comments and it is whats keeping me going at this rate. i will update on saturday because i need more black paint.

love the models, beautiful.

on the subject of photography: do you have a room with two adjourning white walls?
if so, put a sheet of white paper down so it touches both walls. then shine 1 or two lights on the paper, put your model down, and voila! very make-shift lightbox. ideally, you would have the model almost totally surrounded by white walls, but I find this works well.
secondly, get a camera with a macro mode. they're not too expensive, I use an Olympus mju 400 which retails at 250 - but you can pick it up for far less on amazon or ebay (about 50)
...which is pretty good for a 4 megapixel camera with 3x zoom ;)

'owever, I like taking photographs as a hobby, so you probably won't need 4 megapixels. older models are quite cheap and still very good these days, look around.
(and, just so you know, its a worthwhile investment if you don't have one, my digi has lasted me close to 4 years...)

Also a white bath tub makes a good lite box ,when its dry,
because it has no corners and no flash reflections.
go ahead look at my projects, thats what i did in most of them.

@n810: great idea! I will use the bath tub from now on

@0ld1eye: thanks for the suggestions but I already have a digi cam but my mums lost it so I have to use her camera but its not that bad.
