View Full Version : Dark Elf Sorcerous?

I have a friend that's looking for another Dark Elf Sorcerous on foot, but doesn't want to use the same one he already has, ie the lone Sorcerous on foot model GW makes. Are there are any other potential ones that maybe with a decent paint job or small conversions would suffice?

Theres an Empire model of a woman which a lot people use. Its a Mordheim miniature though I forget the name of it and where to look for it exactly.

There is also an old version of the Dark Elf Sorceress that you can get in one of the old "Plastic Packs". She's holding a sword and has her hand up like she's casting a spell.

There are other options out there. Just need to look them up. :-)

Brettonian Damsel?

Don't know how well it would fit, but I briefly considered it when I noticed my local GW didn't have a Sorceress model in stock.

Empire model? Is it a Sisters of Battle mini?

Plastic Packs? That mini sounds a lot like the old Bret Damsel model.

Right now I'm leaning towards the old Neferata mini because I like the staff.

What about Witch Elves? I think the 'dressed' one from the Cauldron of Blood is quite good. Really when you convert her a bit.

Dark Emissary? I use him and Morathi on foot for my two sorceress.

The old Wood Elf Sorceress (one iteration before the latest version of Wood Elf models) works great, as does the Cauldron of Blood Hag. I use these as my 2nd and 3rd Sorcerous.

Alright, I'll take the suggestions to him: Old Damsel Model, Dressed Cauldron of Blood mini, Dark Emmissary, Old Wood Elf Sorcerous and Neferata. I'll take them to him, since I've got to flee for awhile. Unfortunately, I'm under a time crunch and I might not be able to order any of them in time. Hopefully a couple will be on the wall....

There is also a proper Dark Elf Sorcerer on foot, if he wants to dig on Ebay for 5th edition staff...

There are many non-GW alternatives:
Freebooter Miniatures (1-3)
Wargods Of Hyperborea (4)
Warcrow (5)
Iron Kingdoms (6-7)
Hordes (8)
Shadowforge (9)
Reaper (10) and so many others.

The Wargods Ice Witch is fantastic.

There is also a really old Citadel DE Sorceress that he might be able to get on ebay and a few older (Wood) Elf minis that would do the job (one has a mohawk, a Skull wand and a globe, I have it in a box somewhere).

I've got one of the old Talisman plastic sorceresses. :D

He might try a character model like morathi or the everqueen. There is also an old dark elf male sorceror, as noted above. A wood elf spellsinger with a withered wood and suitable conversions and painting might look menacing too.

I wanted to get the Iron Kingdoms Ryssyll/Nyss Sorceress model, but couldn't find anywhere on the IK site to actually order it :(

the Bret Damsel on foot is actually half-decent... a little bit of green stuff around the ears and maybe a few DE-themed things sculpted or modded on would really sell it well.

PS, a bit off-topic, but I converted a Witch Elf as a mounted Sorc on horseback... the conversion was pretty brutal, but I'm gonna start again once I get my current painting projects done... probably around August.

Damsels, Spell Singers... and ...
High Elves Sourcerors - those aren't real men anyway...

That works pretty good. I have converted the witch elf standard bearer to a second sorceress. The standard is easily convertable to a staff of some sort.

The Wargods Ice Witch is fantastic.
Its Chris Fitzpatrick's as well, reckon it will fit in better with the rest of the Dark elf range better than the current one. Not such a fan of the rest of them though
