View Full Version : Trenchworks Addition

Here is a trench system I built when I first started 40K back in 3rd Edition. Not knowing enough of the game before I started I only made a 4 foot by 2 foot section - I guess I had a 4 foot by 4 foot board in mind. Seeing as how the standard table is 6 ft long by 4 ft wide the trenches will not quite work at present. I have made due so far by placing books underneath my table mat to get the 6ft length. I do not like how this looks and want to make extensions to the main part I already have. The easy part is the size needed - two sections 1 foot by 2 feet to go on either side of the 4 x 2. I have included pics of what the main section looks like but would like suggestions on what the two smaller sections should include. Currently there really aren't good spots to include tanks so some sort of tank fortifications would be choices. Should there be extra fortifications or just shell holes or a mixture of both? Once I get some good ideas, I will post pics on how things come out.

I'd say it looks great as it is! :) I really like it. You don't want to have too much stuff on there because it'll make maneuvuring miniatures a tad difficult.

Very inspirational stuff, well done! :)

Have had a couple of battles on it already and the main section works fine. Models with 'wild' poses can't fit in the trenches but rank and file fit really well. I just need something to fill in the sides to make it a 6 foot length instead of just 4 foot.

How about a raised road or railway along one side? You know that scene from Band of Brothers where they attack along that road and come upon a whole company of Germans in a bunker by suprise? Something like that.

Alternativly you could have a group of ruined buildings like the fortified farms at the Battle of Waterloo.
