I know that there are already loads of topics with simiular titles, but mine is a specialised question. I'm getting the rulebook and a starting imperial force. Does anyone have a good suggestion for an imperial starting force that wont break the bank.
Thank you.
This isn't exactly a specialised question actually.
Having just started myself, I'd suggest getting 4 Thunderbolts, then a Marauder Destroyer. If you'd like, you could also get two Valkyries for those missions that require you to drop troops.

thanks for the help
if you can afford it, also get 2 lightnings, they are the only very high maneuvarability fighter craft for the imperials (not counting the valkyries).

I play Imperial Navy. I've got 4 Thunderbolts, 2 Lightnings and 1 Marauder Destroyer, and they're about all I need for the game sizes that I tend to play with my friends who play AI.
4 Thunderbolts, 2 Lightnings, and a Marauder Destroyer will set you back £46 (plus postage).

I started out with 8 Thunderbolts (more then needed, but the Thunderbolt is the epitone Imperial fighter), I'm now adding bombers to that, has worked for me.
AnkhAngel- same, plus some hydra emplacements and some valkyries for transport missions but they arent used much. later down the line i bought a thunderhawk. It's a good start.

We must have identicle forces :p
I concur about AnkhAngels starter- I would drop the Marauder first if you are low on funds.
