After seeing some very inspiring CoD style terrain on this forum, as well as reading the Horus Hersesy series with all those great sieges and city assaults, I thought it would be cool to model a piece of terrain that represented a section of fortified Imperial wall. This is what I completed today.

The overall length is 48". Each of the towers as well as the wall sections can support models, the towers are 4" square with a raised battlement, and the walls have a walkway behind each battlement.

There are three sections to the wall:

The middle section has a massive double door which will remain closed but may be made removable later. (Not sure yet)

The towers are 11" high, overall, and the walls are 8" high.

Due to the modular nature of the wall, the sections can be reconfigured to various shapes, also:

Two of the towers will have Basilisk Earthshaker guns installed, and I'm thinking about adding some Storm Bolters to the wall's defences, as well.

Any thoughts, tips, etc are welcome!

Very nice start! I'd suggest having a troll through this for some inspiration: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=4137

I'd also suggest downloading a bunch of Rictus's wonderful propaganda posters.

Good start.

Thanx for the link! That is an amazing/inspiring piece of work! I definitely plan to have banners hung from the buttresses sticking out from the towers.

Again, thanks! Still have a lot of work to go, but I'm feeling very inspired and hope to have it finished up quickly. (I already have an idea for my next terrain project -- a multi-level landing platform)

Nice start, detailing should really bring them to life. Something I have been tempted to do myself (the 'to do' list just keeps getting bigger) ever since FW released their Imperial Walls.

Which reminds me have you seen the rules FW did for using Imperial Walls in games? Includes rules for including defensive guns in the towers (basically tarantulas with either Lascannon or Heavy Bolters).

Heh I really should start a real ale apreciation thread.

Walls looking good, I'd go for some heavier ordinance than storm bolters, mabey heavy bolers or autocannons in little emplacements, but thats up to you. You could also grab some of the fantasy pots of boiling oil to tip on your enemys.

Great start. Since it is modular, how about making a few ruined sections? That would really make for some interesting siege games, with the attacker trying to blow a hole in the wall, then storm the breach...

That is a great idea, and one that hadn't yet crossed my mind. Cheers for that!

I have enough leftover foamcore to make a ruined section, and I think I will do just that!
