Have you got a copy of Swordwind? Availble as a free PDF from the Specialist Games site if you don't have hard copy.

The consensus seems to be Revenant Titans are perhaps the best value for their points at the moment.

Otherwise, go with the models you like. I've got a good spread of models but try to cram in WEs with as many Aspect Warriors/WaveSerpents as the points will allow.

I don't rate guardians due to lower initiative/no armour - if I wanted that I'd be playing IG.

samuel

also what aspect warriors would you say to take?

Warp Spiders are best overall

Swooping Hawks works best in mono aspect formation due to Teleport skill

Banshees, Scorpions in assalut - but i prefer banshes with first strike

Fire Dragons and Dire Avengers excell in firefight, suporting assaluts

Shining Spears are uber Jetbikes
and Dark Reapers are good too

so i take it you can mix units say having banshees and scopions in the same unit to make it abit better?

Download Swordwind from Specialist games

Aspect warior Host can have any combination of aspect warriors you want

some benefit from mono formations (like Swoping hawks), other are better mixed, bit exept Shining spears and Hawks its down to personal preference

oh right cool so what about this for a 3000 point list?

court of the young king- free

Aspect Warrior Warhost- 4 banshees, 4 Scorpions, 4 wave serpents 500pts

Aspect Warrior Warhost- 4 dire avengers, 4 dragons, 4 wave serpents 500pts

Aspect Warrior Warhost- 8 warp siders 300pts

Vampire- 200pts

Aspect Warrior Warhost- 8 shinning spears, 2 exarchs 350pts

Falcon Troupe- 3 falcons, 2 fire prisms 250pts

Revenant Titans- 2 revenants 650pts

then iv got 250points left to send

What are you using the Vampire for?

You also lack any AA.

You also can not have 2 Fire Prisms in the Falcon Troupe, you can have up to 2 Firestorms (AA).

I would suggest getting a flight of Nightwings instead of the Vampire which leaves you with 150 pts either fill it with a Ranger Troupe or Guardian Warhost.

Right now you have plenty of Aspect Warriors, which aside from the Dark Reapers are all Assault (FF/CC) units and lack any long range (greater than 15cm) weapons.

At the moment, I do not foresee you having much trouble attacking your opponents objectives (plenty of maneuverability) but you lack any force to hold your own objectives. Rangers or Guardians will give you a little more reach and may act as a speed bump against your enemies. Rangers are probably the best investment if you want to stick with what you have above.

Don't put all your CC aspects (Banshees & Scorpions) in the same formation - they are at their best in base-to-base contact, and it's pretty difficult to do that with all 8 stands. Do a limited swap with your DA/Dragon formation. An exarch would help here. Against marine-types the FDs are more useful. They will inflict the same number of assault kills as DA, but also get a short-ranged MW attack.

Take an autarch if you can (replaces an Exarch for +50pts) - the SC reroll can be a life saver.

Take AA if you are expecting to face aircraft (or don't know). Your Revenants already provide a bit, alternatively a Cobra SHT will also help and provide a nasty surprise for WEs. Or replace some Falcons with Firestorms (or is that what you meant by Fire Prisms?). It's free, and the FS is nearly as good as the falcon for most purposes.

As Orangesm said, your Vampire doesn't have anything to transport here - your aspect warriors already have wave serpents. The points are probably better invested in a nightwing squadron - this gives you an offensive formation which can strike anywhere and can also solving the AA problem.

You need a Farseer to use the Avatar. Not necessarily a no-brainer; although free, the Avatar is a one-shot weapon which you need to buy a fragile Guardian formation to use.

Not a bad starter list you've got there mate.

One of the best eldar formations going is 4 Striking Scorpions and 4 Dire Avangers. Keep the avengers towards the edge of an assault (in fire fight range) and you're looking at 16 attacks from the aspecrs plus 4 from the transports. I've dealt out (and been on the receiving end) of some serious beltings with these things! :D

Personally I'm a fan of Wildrider Jetbike formations too. They're fast moving and have a decent firefight value. As they're skimmers they pretty much always get to use their FF value in an assault too.

Guardian warhosts in Wave Serpents are good for the same as they have a decent FF value. Although they should really be used in conjunction with another unit as they aren't exactly tough. :cries:

To me the eldar are a very assault oriented, hit and run type army. The above units can get in quickly and do a hell of a lot of damage (especially in a combined assault), then they leg it at full speed to safety.

It certainly makes clearing away units holding objectives easy but as orangesm said you might struggle to retain some of them.

I would suggest ditching the Vampire and getting a couple of units of Night Spinners (I NEVER go anywhere without 2 units). Lethal, lethal little blighters. Brilliant for putting down blast markers which are essential for epic. That'll leave you with about 200 points to spend on a couple of units of Rangers or some war walkers or something.

Storm serpents are pretty amazing. What transport unit can do this:?...

move, double or march into position and then allow troups to engage, move, double, or march from that position? Even if the thing gets broken it can make it's two break moves (towards enemy positions) and then disgorge nasties!

Also try a guardian host loaded up with the max number of wraithguard and wraithlords. The guardians are fine, thank you very much, but the wraiths are both tough terminators and fearless. This means that even if the formation is broken, the wraiths can keep mashing your opponent up! Deploy from the aforementioned Storm Serpents...

Wraithgate- 50pts

Autarch- 75pts

AspectWarriorWarhost- 4 avangers, 4 Scorpions, 4 wave serpents 500pts

AspectWarriorWarhost- 4 fire dragons, 4 banshees, 4 wave serpents 500pts

AspectWarriorWarhost- 8 warp siders, 1 exarch 325pts

Aspect Warrior Warhost- 8 shinning spears, 1 exarch 325pts

Falcon Troupe- 3 falcons, 2 fire storms 250pts

Revenant Titans- 2 revenants 650pts

Nightwings: 3 Nightwing Interceptors for 300pts

right now im 75pts over so i can get ride of the Autarch to make it 3k
so what you guys think?

Hena

I think that you should try to get a game next :). Play first without Autarch and then with replacing something else for the Autarch and other things.

That's the best way to see what style works best for you :D.

samuel
11-07-2007, 13:13
so do you think that list without the autarch is a good list and should work well together

samuel
11-07-2007, 13:26
oh i couldnt find the rules for webways anywhere could some one give me a page number or tell me the rule

thank you

Hena

Webways? Do you mean the Wraithgate? It's in the army list at the wraithgate entry if I remember correctly.

Edit: As far as the list working. I don't play Eldar. So I can't say. In general the Supreme Commander is a very good buy, but certainly it's not automatic for all lists. So in that sense I'd try playing with it and see how it feels like. Then adapt the list. But my way of playing is to buy everything and then start experimenting with the lists afterwards so I quess that shows here as well :D.

yer but the waithgate says it is a webway and a objective and i need to no what the webway bit does lol
