My favourite line from a song is from Machinae Supremacy's Soundtrack to the Rebellion and it goes a lil something like this:

We stand and those who push us down will die

What do you fools think is the best line of any song?

Too many to pick from. Depends on the mood.

I refuse to be brought down by you
Praise is far away from what you do
Not only are you cranking up my brain
I'm meant to blow you away...
-Children of Bodom: 6 Pounder

Feeling claustrophobic, Like the walls are closing in
Blood stains on my hands and I don't know where I've been
I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet
I'm chomping at the bit and my
Palms are getting wet"
-Megadeth: Sweating Bullets

"You always claimed that you would die for me. Why then are you so suprised when you hear your own eulogy?"
-Tool: Eulogy

then there's the classics :p

"One nation under ******* with liberty ********** justice for all"
-Murderdolls: I love to say *******

When I was back there in Seminary school, there was a person there who put forth the proposition that you can petition the lord with prayer. Petition the lord with prayer. Petition the lord with prayer. You cannot petition the lord with prayer!
Jim Morrison-The Doors-The Soft Parade

Or, if you like Him

Do you love your Guns and your God and your Government, goddammit let me hear it from you.
Marilyn Manson-Fall of Adam

My days are numbered: soon I have to leave
The Horns have stretched my living thread
The notion of my demise won't leave me be
Why cannot death just set me free!

Amon Amarth - Across The Rainbow Bridge

My personal vote.

"The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I ever had"
Tears for Fears - Mad World (1983)

Let's have some discussion of why you like your line of a song please.

Otherwise it could be considered spam.

Well I woke up SUnday morning,
without a way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
so I had one more for desert.
Jonny Cash

I like it because its so down and dirty

Burn me, I get into ****, I let it out like diarrhea
Got burnt once, but that was only gonorrhea
Dirty, I keep **** stinks in my drawers
So I can get fuzzy-funky for yah! (Shame on a Nigga)

I'm the pussy vampire (Windpipe)

Ol' Dirty Bastard

I like the first one because its weird and disgusting and just leaps out at you from the song. The other you'd have to hear within the song to get it.

Don't you know there ain't no devil?
thats just god when he's Drunk

Heart Attack and Vine, Screamin Jay Hawkins
Great, off hand and profound at the same time, like a good lyric should be.

all these paper masks that we wear are easily torn apart
and all these illusions of strenght are seen for what they are
and we strut and we swagger in the pre-fight talk, we carry ourselves with a victor's walk and swear will always stand upon this rock...
But mostly we fall.. mostly we stumble..
human nature in a verse... if anyone else can tell me who wrote it you get a small prize

The first song line that comes to mind is:

The sales climb high through the garbage pail sky
Like a giant dildo crushing the sun

Beck - Pay no mind

Its probably the best use of imagery I've ever heard!

The reason i chose the line i did (we stand and those who push us down will die) is because it describes me and my country of origin (greece) and i just think that it also stands for all those who do not want to be suppressed and yet they are and they have had enough and they are fighting back. Its just good stuff.

'Tweeter was a boy scout 'fore he went to Vietnam,
And learned out the hard way, that nobody gives a damn,'

Tweeter and the Monkey Man by The Travelling Wilburys

It's good because it makes good sense, and true to a certain extent.

Bring your daughter, bring yor daughter to the slaughter,
let her go, let her go, let her go.
Iron Maiden,Track title, Bring your daughter to the slaughter

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime,
Reflecting on my past life and it doesnt have much time,
Cos at 5 o clock they take me to the gallows pole,
The sands of time for me are running low.

As the Guards walk me out to the courtyard,
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If theres a God then why has he let me die?
Iron Maiden,Track title Hallowed be thy name (both versus)

Running silent, running deep, we ar your final prayer,
Warriors in secret sleep, a merchantmans nightmare,
A silent death lies waiting for all of you below,
Running silent, Runng deep, sink into your final sleep,

The lifeboats shattered, the hull is torn,
The tar black smell of burning oil,
On the way down to Davy jones,
Every man for himself-your on your own,
The wolf eyes watch the crosswire
"stern tubes ready", "aim and fire"
They pin some medal on your chest,
But in two more weeks- dead like the rest.
Iron Maiden,Track title Running silent Running deep (both versus)

Sorry I dont really have a favourite line, just versus. :D

Holy smoke,Holy smoke, plenty bad preachers for the devil to stoke.
Iron Maiden Track title Holy Smoke.

The first one which comes to mind is

"Salvation won't be rearing it's head for a fact, at least not in my time,
And what good's a song for peace when the f*cker doesn't even rhyme?"

from "Like this with the Devil" by Entombed (IIRC)

"Look, Mum, that body's got no head,
It's covered in blood, do you think the man is dead?"

from another Entombed song (Uffe's Horrorshow?)

Just a couple of their great tongue-in-cheek lyrics. I guess I just like jokes and swearing.

Some of those that want forces
Are the same that burn crosses

Just victims of the inhouse drive by
They say jump you say how high?

Both because they show that state of politics and religion in the world today and are by that best band ever to grace this earth

"Another hero, another mindless crime, behind the curtain, in the panthomime"

Queen, Show must go on.

I don't know why, I just love that part of the song

"I've got some money and a take'a'way curry, I'm on my way home to my wife"
Down in the Tube station at midnight: The Jam

Living here in Jersey
Fighting villains from afar
You've gotta find first gear
In your giant robot car
You dig giant robots
I dig giant robots
We dig giant robots
Chicks dig giant robots

OK I see no real improvement beyond cut and pasting of song lyrics.
