Lots to follow once I've figured out this new fangled technology :-/
This is my basic IG trooper for my Hansa Teutonica army.
The Hansa Teutonica is a powerful trade guild founded by the Rogue Trader Wilhelm Wendish beyond the farthest reaches of the Segmentum Tempestus. The guild composes of a large number of Drittelwald or circle worlds spread over many systems presided over by the Margrave of Königswald Franz Lübeck.
The Margrave has recently reaffirmed the Hansa Teutonica's loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind after once again establishing contact after being seperated for several millenia. Many servants of the Empire have flocked to this recently rediscovered part of the Imperium as a treasure trove of lost technologies, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the Adeptus Mechanicum and the Inquisition http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/...ps04aa8d85.jpg
Excellent start, nitro. :) I see the Teutons are expanding in power across the Imperium...
Would I be right in thinking that he's a combination of Curious Constructs and Victoria Miniatures?
You would indeed be correct with a forgeworld backpack and gw accessories.
I've got lots more to come so I'll try and post one thing per day - squads, platoon command, company command, specialists, Ogryns, Squats, Cavalry, mechanised cavalry, mechanicum, tanks, transports oh my!
Your first trooper looks great, can't wait to see a squad of these guys painted up! :D
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1f9ad56c.jpg
Here is my first painted squad, note the sergeant's white gloves so his troops can follow his signals and his white belt.
The Hansa Teutonica has the full resources of several forgeworlds giving them access to a wide range of equipment. Every squad has access to good communications and an armoured transport (pics to follow)

Bases will be done as finances allow and I would welcome any suggestions :-)
Looks lovely what's the army plan?
-joeingtons
Thanks :-)
I'm fairly new to this so not entirely sure so am open to suggestions. One of my chums is lending me an imperial guard codex (the one before the latest as that's probably what we're going to be playing)
So far I have 5 regular squads, a platoon command, a company command with advisors, a veteran squad, a squad of rough riders, 5 mechanised rough riders (bikes), 3 snipers, 2 ogryn sergeants, 1 commissar lord, 2 commissars, 1 techpriest, 4 servitors, 1 squat sergeant, 3 count as leman russes, 5 count as chimeras and lots of enthusiasm.
l've also got a large Valhallan infantry company which will be seeing some paint after the Hansa Teutonica are done so fire away with any suggestions for various types of guard companies.
Got lots more bits in the wings including a space marine chapter (IG defense force loosely based on Taniths) and a squad of scouts so far. Also lots of single IG squads from various ideas.
An inquisitor and small retinue.
They'll all get posted on here eventually!
Oh wow that all sounds amazing, I can't wait!
You played the innocent there saying you didn't really know what direction to take the army, but you've got the makings of a very nice standard guard army.
If you've got 5 chimeras and a good few squads how about making it a specialised armoured fist army? Everyone can count as veterans and be mounted in their own transport which gives you a move of manoeuvrability and a fair bit of firepower. Rough riders act as scouts and you've got the leman russes for heavy support. That could work out very well!
Very nice!
May I suggest an urban basing scheme, maybe grey flagstones? I tend to think that would set off the theme and paint scheme you've chosen nicely!

This is my company commander Oberst Franz Manheim.
Made from a GW Creed, Curious constructs pickelhaube head and GW Empire feathers.
Splendid! I really like the squad as a whole - for basing, I would echo Col. Gravis' suggestion, but if I wanted to be really crazy, maybe a jungle theme?
And I really like your company commander - May I use the helmet idea for inspiration?
I think I might go for a slightly neglected version of Col. Gravis' suggestion maybe some tufts of wilted or dry vegetation.
As for the helmet go for it I'd love to see another take on it. It was quite a swine to do and I had to use some greenstuff to make the 'crown' of the feathers but overall I'm rather pleased with it. The badge of office under his chin was press molded green stuff as I had to increase the height of the head so that it would fit with all that finery on top. Looking forward to seeing your version :-)

Regimental advisors, note the rounded helmet top on the ordnance officer denoting he is assigned to the artillery. The naval officer in full uniform (may do a squad of Kriegmarines to accompany him).

Lovely, isn't that a French ww2 tank as a base? Post it onthe thread head thread please :), if you want to check out where the turrets are from please check out tinners last log, think he got commissioned to do them for anarchy
-joeingtons
This is the transport for my troops its made by a Polish company called Warchimera. They're nice tanks but take A LOT of cleaning up and prep work but I think they're worth it.

The plow, also handy extra armour. You may notice that there is no secondary armament this is because of the extra thick armour plating on the front for assaults (and not finding a suitable fitting :-/)

Who would you like to see next?
Techpriest and servitors, Ogryn sergeants, snipers, unpainted armoured cavalry, mechanised cavalry (work in progress), trench engineers(unpainted) or platoon command squad #1?
Some very impressive tanks there, Nitro!
As for the base of your counts as Leman Russ -
It looks like it's mainly a hodge-podge of various British Marks, particularly the Mark VIII, which never saw active service, going on to be used in the United States until 1932 - the tank from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was based on this, with an added turret, too - in fact, Nitro, your tank bears a striking resemblance to that vehicle. ;)
I may well be wrong, of course, but keep up the good work! :)
It's on modelling and painting general discussion and is one of the sticky threads, over 600 pages I think, nice troop transport what colours are they going to be painted in?
-joeingtons
Thanks, haha suppose, what bout weathering?
-joeingtons
nice love weathering, also how do you know waht one of those looks like :P

-joeingtons
Great buggies, where are those from?

Snipers! Drawn from the aristocrat hunting lodges of Schwarzwald. Easily identified by their characteristic black helms and lack of body armour these stealthy marksmen use their skills to deadly effect throughout the Empire.
Being aristocrats they are never without their gentleman's personal gentleman (Spotters to follow) to record their kills and collect suitable trophies...

Sniper spotter #1 assembled
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/...psa2129c6d.jpg
2nd Platoon command - rumour has it that Oberleutnant Shroeder was gifted the bolter by one of the mighty Astartes!
Next up I have a question for the loyal commanders of his imperial majesties armies.
Should the Hussars be mounted on giant wolves...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/...ps341a4f2f.jpg
....or horses?
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/...ps02cf0f05.jpg
Wow just wow, wolves definetly, which wolves did you use and which parts so I can steal the idea :p
-joeingtons
Wolves, definatley wolves....... That is all
Wolves I say. You've got a really realistically themed army, so I think the wolf cavalry would add a nice bit of crazy fantasy into the mix. :)
Oh if anyone has a Chenkov (vahallan) seperate jacket or two going spare send me a message and I'll shake my coin purse ;-)

Probitors (Conscripts) drawn from the ranks of the common people to serve the Emperor of Mankind in a more direct manner, not subject to the strict selection process normally reserved for recruits into the imperial guard they consist of the young and the old hurled into the maelstrom of war. Easily distinguished from the regulars they are often seen still clad in their standard issue greatcoats (not realising that they hamper the swift movement so often needed on the field of war).

Cheers Beppo I'm trying to go for a 'Dads Army' look so expect a few green stuff hand knitted scarves from Mum and some 'well-fed' troops etc.
Should be fun as there's lots of scope for character mini's :-)

Nice hellhound, what are the wolf riders looking like, any paint yet?
I really like those conscripts! Great inspiration for me as I look to expand my Guard numbers. Big fan of Vic Minis parts but could I ask where their plastic bodies are from?
Thanks I'm still undecided about the colour scheme as there were quite a few Hussar regiments historically - will probably go with either a black, green or blue jacket. What do you think?
