Thanks Imperator, very nice of you.:)
I remember the Andalusians. You do really like smaller conflicts don't you Codsticker.
Wish I still had my old Saxons and Normans to give you...I had a half dozen or so of each...not certain what happened to them.
Cheers,
CB
Mid-sized I guess. My ECW stuff is in excess of 300 figures painted, not including things like cannons, wagons, etc.. The nice thing about games like Saga and the Lion Rampant stable of games is that they make for a nice little distraction as you can build a gameable force out of 48 or so figures.
Are they painted? If you find them and want to sell them I will take them.:)Quote:

Nice Normans Norman!
Thank you mrtn.
With that brief 11th century interlude we are back to the ECW. Earlier this year I picked up a bunch of minis off ebay from a seller in Nova Scotia (it's not very often you find someone in Canada selling second hand ECW figures). The figures were painted to a fairly coarse table top standard (some better than others), with not much prep put into them. Here is a sample photo:

The 2 figures on the left are (I believe) Old Glory, followed by Renegade, possibly Redoubt and then a Perry figure. The 2 OG figures were primed black, then "wet brushed" brown; a fairly common painting technique 30-40 years ago with historical gamers. I have been tidying them up over the last couple of months between other projects and now have a completed regiment.

All the musketeers are from the ebay purchase.

The musketeers are a mix oif either Old Glory or Redoubt and Perry.

The Pike bases are made up mostly from the ebay miniatures, including the command figures and flag:

One base, though is made up of new figures from 4 different manufacturers:

From left to right we have 1st. Corps, Avanpost, Perry and Warlord Games plastic. The only one that doesn't really fit is the 1st Corps figure; he's rather large and distinctly different sculpting style. You can't really tell though at gaming distance though- see below:

Nice work, it's a lovely thing to rescue old figures. On the last pic, the second guy from the right in the leftmost unit will have a nasty surprise when he tries to shoot that bent musket. ;)
This winter I signed up for the Analogue Painting Challenge. Great little project to inspire and motivate people to get some minis painted. One of my goals for this challenge is to finish off a few projects including my Norman Warband. To that end I painted up these crossbowmen.

All the figures are from Crusader Miniatures El Cid range.

For the most part decent figures to paint; nice faces, not overly exaggerated features, the odd bit of obscured detail though.

In Saga terms these 8 figures constitute 1 point of Warriors. Once the other archers are done I will have two units that can take advantage of those shooty battleboard abilities.

CS,
Great looking figures mate and good work on the re-do's. Your Normans almost made look at my Bretonnians again. :(
Very nice ECW figures.
Just call the tall fellow "Little John".
Cheers,
CB
Nice crossbowmen. :)
Thanks mrtn.
My next submission for the AHPC is 8 Flemish Mercenaries, using parts from the Conquest Games Norman Infantry and Medieval Archers box sets.

4 of them are just straightforward builds from the Norman Infantry box. All the shields are hand painted, though some are a little rough:

For two of them I used the bodies in chainmail from the Medieval archers set; the one in yellow uses a head from Infantry set:

The Norman Infantry box has two torsos in padded jacks; these both got heads from the Archers set:

Nice. I bought a box of Normans cheap for a couple of years ago, but haven't really found a use for them yet. Who and when are these Flemish guys?
Thanks mrtn.
Flemish mercenaries is an option for Saga: Age of Vikings. They were- apparently- heavily armoured like Equites but fought primarily on foot. William employed quite a few of them at Hastings.
The mercs look great, the individual shield colors give them a lot of character
Thanks Mos.:D
I finished off 6 more Conquest Games archers.
https://i.imgur.com/25Echgc.jpg
After building the last 6 I learned a bit and was able to do a better job making these look a bit more natural.
https://i.imgur.com/uFRmPIx.jpg
The way the heads are designed they don't go onto the torsos easily; they only sit naturally looking straight forward, which is not where you look when shooting a bow. The two on the right ended up nodding forward a bit.
https://i.imgur.com/zmOLxG6.jpg
Grouped together with the other 6 I painted earlier they make 1 point of levies for Saga.

I really liked the Flemish Mercenaries mate. A good looking unit.
Thank you Colonel.
A new direction for me: the Old West.
https://i.imgur.com/UcevL6C.jpg
A friend and I picked up a number of Old West figures from Brigade Games in the US a few months ago with an eye to getting some wild west skirmish games.
https://i.imgur.com/Y0YLdS0.jpg
Each one is named after a character from song; the one above is Yavapai Pete, the one below Henry Waits Alone.
https://i.imgur.com/Ev50dLa.jpg
The figures are very well proportioned, quite realistically, as a result they are slender sculpts. The fella below is simple the stranger from the traditional cowboy song Zebra Dun:
https://i.imgur.com/HS4HZw1.jpg
The only downside to the figures is that quite a few are a bit hatchet faced; Little Joe is not one of those:
https://i.imgur.com/TmewX8j.jpg
Quite a few have 'squinty eyes' which I found a bit of a challenge to paint, such as on Windy Bill below:
https://i.imgur.com/C9EuAmz.jpg
The only mini named a after a real person is Bob Fudge from the Ian Tyson song of the same name:
https://i.imgur.com/W0ZZije.jpg
The backdrop for these photos is Perry Miniatures North American Store:

Very nice little kit, but quite thin styrene, similar to a scale model kit.

It really enjoyed painting and weathering it; the south western states can get blistering hot and it shows in the faded and peeling paint and white wash.

boy howdy! that looks like the Clanton Gang as portrayed in the movie Tombstone

what rules are you using? I have resources for "legends of the old west"
You know, they might be from a blister called 'OK Corral'...
