And the Plague begins anew (a Nurgle Marine Blog)

Howdy all I'm starting a blog to chronicle my efforts to construct, convert, and paint a Nurgle themed WH40k Army

I started on this army about a month ago originally to complete one 1250 list for a doubles tournament in the Boston area. My teammate was running a Khornate 1250 for the other half. Well I had so much fun converting and painting my small 1250 list that I decided to buy the models he had lent me and expand my list.

My efforts to make the initial 1250 list were a lot of fun and definitely a learning experience. I did far more green stuffing than I ever had before.

The List I ran in the Tournament was

1 seven man PM squad with 2plasguns, and a rhino. The scythe counted as a Powerfist
a close up of the unit

1 seven man PM squad with 2plasguns, and again a champ equipped with a "fist"
a close up of the unit

3 Oblits (2 with admittedly bad looking GS "Fists")
A Close up pic of the 'blits

Wow that's a pretty impressive looking army. I especially like the close combat weapons on the termies... They glow nicely. The "cleanness" of those weapons really complement the yuckiness of your army! Plus it's very original!

Any pictures of your army fighting alongside your mate's Khornate army?

Your army is certainly the very pleasing sight. When I first saw your thread I thought 'not another Nurgle log' but I was massively impressed when I saw you work. The purple blended power weapons contrast perfectly with th egreensof the marines themselves.

    Well done.

For Nurgle stuff I started with a Chaos Black Undercoat
then a heavy drybrush of Catachan Green
    a drybrush of Camo green
    a drybrush of rotting flesh
    Boltgun metal on metallic bits
    Brown ink
    Drybrush of rotting flesh
    Drybrush of Bleached bone

Yep am using Greenstuff/Graystuff and I did go back over the bases to black em out.

    These are truly great..

You almost never see half as much greenstuffing, etc, done to a Chaos army to give it that gritty, chaosy feeling.

These guys, well, I want to go bathe in bleach and get full shots after looking at them on the computer screen, they really bring the pestilience to life.

    Heading back to Typhus..

The spiral might not be great, however, I'm thinking if you were to make a few small "webs" of GS to press in, nice and thin, you'd get the desired affect. Hrm, maybe that with a few patches of say, baking powder in other areas, stippled to look like decaying skin, could really capture it nicely and add to the putriscience.

Unfortunately I don't know what you mean with the baking soda Technique... I popped the spiral off as it just made the haft of the scythe look too damn fat for his hand.

Re: And the Plague begins anew (a Nurgle Marine Blog)

People have used it, quite effectively, for mud and rust before, because it comes out with an uneven texture, and you can colour it before you slap it up. When it's dried up and been lightly sealed, drybrush over the top, maybe wash a bit, whatever you want.

@ Faolan Still not quite sure what you mean, I think I got it tho it would definitely make a very fine textured mud.

Have the 3rd PM squad mostly painted now just need to do mettalics, Plasma glow and bases.

    Whole squad

Nice looking Nurgle army you've got there, the greenstuffin is brillint.

I like the color of those termie-maces.
    How did you do those?
