152nd Tank Brigade. Scratch Building Log.

Well I decided to finally start a log on here, it'll be for my Soviet Armoured Company.

Hopefully this will help make me finish the army once and for all without changing the list every so often. And its also to stop me clogging up the tread head thread with small updates.

Most of the main tanks in the army will be scratchbuilt, the rest will all have conversions, ranging from large to small with plasticard.

It will be heavily inspired by the Soviet tanks of the 2nd world war, all the tanks will have the late war IFF pattern to keep a theme throughout the army, they will also have Soviet Slogans on the tanks, now this is the main bit, I know some of them say "Facists!" or "For Stalin!" and so on, but I don't care what they say, as this is the 41st millenium, its a weird space language so it doesn't have to mean what it says in Russian.

Any Infantry in the army will be done using the Valhallan models, but I'm not really sure if there will be any Infantry or Armoured fist squads in the army right now. I may just save them for another army after this is completed.

The 152nd Tank Brigade will be the main force, consisting of mostly Ragnarok Battle Tanks, which for this will count as Leman Russes, it will also be joined by elements of the 1934th self-propelled gun regimenta and the 76th separate tank battalion, it'll all be the same list but some tanks will be from the different regiments to account for the differences in vehicles.

The 152nd Brigade is as follows:

Leman Russ Vanquisher - Ragnarok with Kv-1 style turret.
Destroyer Tank Hunter - A tank destroyer based of the Is-122/152 using the Ragnarok hull.
Leman Russ Battle Tank - Ragnarok with Kv-2 style Turret.
    Chimera

Only one of these is built at the minute, and the rest are in various stages of development at the moment.

The 1934th self-propelled gun regiment will consist of 3 Basilisk based of the Leman Russ chassis with armoured tops, these were originally going to be my bombards, but I'm going to convert the model a bit to turn them into Basilisk just to make it easier and to save faffing around with the Forgeworld rules.

One of these is finished and painted, the other two are nearing completion, will hopefully have the 2nd finished tonight.

The 76th separate tank battalion will be the captured Germanish tanks, which is as follows:

Destroyer Tank Hunter - Stug III/Su-75
    Leman Russ - Panzer III/T-3

These are what I'm currently working on, and are getting the most of my attention, after these I'll be swapping back to the basilisks, and then onto the ragnaroks.

There will also be a Super Heavy Company, the 5th Guards tank brigade, consisting of 3 Baneblades, two of which are finished already.

Anyway enough bable, heres some pictures:

    What the Basilisks will be:

Not sure the last time I commented on your vehicles, but they are very inspiring, especially the shocks on the wheels, which are a much needed addition over much of the WIP boards (and my own stuff)
Not to mention the incredible precision and attention to detail that puts your work over the lot of us...

You should put more of your older work on this log for inspiration and completeness sake, as I can see this being a popular thread for all the treadheads out there

There wont be any infantry I've decided, tho I'm planning a Seige list using the Krieg list with scratchbuilt arty, but this is all the infantry I have basically painted, nothing more than a basecoat and drybrush:

I didnt use plans really, I just went from an idea in my head and photos of the real deal, same with most of my tanks really.

Anyway, I'm working on this today, need to fill in a few gaps and then I can start detailing:

Really good detail work and the overall theme is nice, although I've never liked the boxy ragnaroks. Are there any T-42s on the to do list

Stunning work there. That Stug barrel.....those two rods on the top keep making me think the barrel is slightly bent until I look more closely. Strange...

Great work on the StugIII/Su-75, is that the same shade of green as the rest of your force? (what colour & make are you using?)
I've been using Tamiya TS Nato Green up til now, but as it's no longer available, I'm contemplating getting an airbrush!

Yep its the same green: Vallejo 70924 Russian Uniform WWII. I didn't use an airbrush on this one, but I really wish I had since it would have sped up the painting a lot.

So far I've only painted it green and given it a wash of black. Which looks like(Photos are a bit dark):

I also got these in the post today, so I'll probably be painting them up sometime soon.

    I'm back.

I'm liking the theme and you've certainly got skills with plasticard. I'd love to see those infrantry painted up, and more tank riders for the tanks - that would be a cool doctrine of IG, not sure what it'd do mind you, maybe act as a transport for a unit or something. I think you need more shading/highlighting on them, the colours are nice but rather bland.
Been playing since 1991, so if I get the editions all mixed up, please been kind on me - my brain can't keep up!
