To me the Dark Eldar are one of the most challenging armies to not only play with but to put together.
Used correctly they can dominate the game but the slightest mistake will be punished turning your well planned raid for slaves into a massacre.
Modelwise they are extremely limited, being very much a third edition army and with the redesign a year or so away you don't really have a lot to work with so need to be inventive if you want to have an army that stands out from the crowd.
To update the model a little I've used parts from the new Dark Elf Cold One riders and added the head of an unfortunate Space Wolf along with an Eldar Guardian and Human skull.
I'll post some better shots once my camera has recharged.
WIP Archon
This is the leader of my raiding party that I'm initially aiming for around a thousand points to begin with.
I've armed him with an Agoniser, Shadow field, Splinter pistol and trophy rack to begin with.
I've decided to go for a purple colour scheme for the Kabal and have given him gold armour to make him stand out from the crowd as the Archon.
I've also elongated the model to make the Dark Eldar taller and more slender by lengthening the legs and torso, a siple conversion that I will apply to all the models in the army.
For his bodyguard I'm scratch building the Incubi, this will form a serious close combat unit that should hopefully be able to tackle most enemy units and whose armour saves and strength bonus should put them on an equal footing with the likes of the Astartes.
The model has been made using Dark Elf bits to create a heavier more ornate look to the armour and I will be adding more to create the Tormentor helm later on.
WIP Incubi
For the Dark Eldar warriors I'm using the same extension technique as before but sticking with mostly the bits from the Warrior kits and modifying Guardian helms to update the design a little.
This is a simple conversion so as not to bog me down and distract me from my main goal of gettting a small force together.
