Nice painting Captain Brown. That desert scheme really works well on the Vultures and Valkaries. Are the numbers decals or were they freehanded?

Here's my newly finished Hellblade, minus a base because I can't for the life of me find anyone in the UK to sell me a small wooden circle...

Well, I am almost done painting my Thunderbolt (visible in the first post), just got some decals to apply. Anyway, my next aircraft to paint is my Marauder Destroyer. Do you guys think I should paint it in scheme with the Thunderbolt or paint it differently?

@Gropius: Stunning Phoenix there! How did you make the runic inscriptions on the wings? Are they free-hands or some home-made transfers?
My mates in the Air force call each other "turbine weasels" instead of "stick jocks" (it comes from their unofficial motto - "we may not soar with the eagles, but weasels don't get sucked into jet turbines." ) as it also has a less 'homo-erotic' connotation.
Some nice aircraft there, though, folks. I shall have to put up pics of my vtol gunship when I get time. It counts as a Vulture in 40k games, but it was bought primarily for Stargrunt.

I am the guy who thought the LoTR movies were crap and liked Judge Dredd.
Very nice hellblade Tonberry, I like the red markings on the wings.
What did you use for the stick? If I'm lucky I might be able to base my
thunderbolt soon, and I'd like it to stay up.
Quiben, I think you should paint it in much the same way as the thunderbolt,
but with slightly different markings - Just enough to indicate another squadron or unit.
Maybe change the stripes on the wings?
I, for one, am looking forward to seeing the thunderbolt done with the decals on.
VanSan, those are looking awesome, I remember seeing them before.
Nice colourscheme too - very bold!
Thank you for your kind words, the stick is the straight bit from a wire coat hanger, and if you only cut out the middle it should still be able to hang a shirt...
For reference, the base is the bottom of one of those wooden 'trees' you hang mugs on, bought for 50p from a second hand shop![]()
Thanks, the inscription is freehand.
