    Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

Hi guys. While not a plog as such (all my models have already been painted so not a general painting log) I think its about time I started taking pics of my force for the following reasons:
    • I don't like the way the lists are becoming separate
    • I have decided to sell my army so want to keep a record of it

With that in mind I have placed the army on ebay, partially to give someone else the satisfaction of playing with a well-loved army, of giving it to a good home after 6 years of collecting, painting and gaming and in order to fund new projects - Space Marine, Epic campaigns, forgeworld addiction...

Anyway, on with the pictures. Comments and Criticsm expected!

The view of the entire army.

Converted Lord with replacable head. Can be used as Slaanesh lord or Archaon

Limited edition marauder champion only available in Northern Europe.

Sorceror used as either Slaanesh sorceror or Wizard with Lore of Shadows or Death.

If anyone is interested, the army is here

    Comments welcome,
    Regards,

I demand a pic of that Daemon! ... your army looks very cool, nice colour choices and theme for Slaanesh, and Chaos in general.

Had a look at your ebay listing for all the pics. You have a beautiful looking army. Real shame you're getting rid of it.

Damn, I feel sorry that you are getting rid of it. It is beautiful... I wish I could but it even though I am no Slaanesh player (and the fact that I am attending the University and thus not being able to buy many things suck)... it sure is a bunch of crap to see people's armies to be ripped apart because of GW's decision.

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

@MonsterZonk and Kronos: The Daemon is I believe the old model of Melchior's mount. I was given it a looong time ago and with a little leg repositioning, greenstuff and some extra spikes I managed to turn it into something feasibly daemonic!

    Pictures:

    Hope these will do.

Will get more pictures up asap. I don't like to double post so I will wait and post up what people ask for from the following:
    • Archaon
    • Marauder Champion
    • Chosen Chariot
    • Sorceror
    • Perverted Elfin Knight
    • Chosen Knights
    • Spawn
    • Horsemen
    • Chariot

    Cool!
As for what to post next, there's only one choice: "perverted Elfin knight"! Just for the sound of it...

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

    @Zonk. You asked for it.

Based on a Dragon Knight champion, I placed him on the old Archaon horse. Plan was to have a unit of 'Fallen' Phoenix Guard painted up to match his armour with pink tinted mithril and black flames and use them as Slaanesh Chosen warriors. Got the models just never got round to it and eventually sold them to a mate.

Inspired by a character model painted in the Hordes book, this was my interpretation of him.

    Enjoy.

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

I'd rather part with my very soul than sell of my army... So I never understood people who do.

But still, its a very nice army. Looking forward to seeing what comes from the money you get with the sell.

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

@Braad: I know how you feel and it does pain me to part with it but for the fact that I have decided to sell my soul to Apocalypse and continue with my other projects like Epic and our continuing heresy-era campaigns (see my 1k son website in sig)

I have a large Thousand Son force that needs my attention, I have the new Space Marine codex that I am using to do up a pre heresy Luna Wolves (NOT Sons of Horus, Luna Wolves!)

Let's see, some other projects - get my Epic Nids painted (been collecting them from Ebay over the last few months - not cheap!!), my Epic Thousand Sons, Epic Luna Wolves, Epic Raven Guard, Blood Bowl teams (Chaos beastmen only team finished, Orc team part painted)

I have sold 2 fully painted armies in the past - my Raven Guard and my Dark Elves. The Raven Guard were an army that I completed in 2 days so that I had a fully painted army to go to White Dwarf interview (that was a fun weekend!)

Both armies funds went to help my financial situation and other hobby stuff.

This sale is a little different.

Let me say that I am a chaos nut! Not 1 system exists that i have played where I have not at least tried Chaos. However with the new direction I find the game going in I cannot have access to my Slaanesh centigors or Shaggoth or my lovely old skool metal daemonettes.

Time. With an average fantasy game lasting a good few hours I find that i have little to no time to play fantasy on the level I would like. With 1 game using the army in the last few years I want someone else to enjoy it as much as I have.

Space. 2 cases worth of models is just a bit too much with all my other GW and non GW stuff lying around and the missus droning in 1 ear. Let me say that she is not forcing me (in case she reads this!) to sell up.

    Anyway, some more models

    Champion's Chariot.

I decided to convert the chariot and split the yoke into a Y shape so that I could use the boob snake as a mount. It counts as 2 models but could easily be used in a daemon army as a herald on chariot. The champion is long OOP and is a lovely warrior model in bone armour. I wanted to do this great model justice. I think it looks good.

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

    Hi guys,

Next up for review are my Chosen Slaanesh Knights. My theme behind the army is having lots of Marauder units (cheap as chips and quite good if supported right) that were following an elite unit of knights who embodied the beauty of their patron god Slaanesh.

    More to come

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

    More knights:

These knights were my pride and joy and usually had the Rapturous Standard with them and an Exalted Champ or Lord meaning that they strike first (on charge or because of standard all enemy are at half I) and can pretty much churn through anything. Cast the Slaanesh Frenzy spell on them to go through tough units with ease.

The unit itself is IMHO the best unit I have ever painted and to make it even better I painted them on the job while working for GW so I got paid to paint them.

    Enjoy and Regards,

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

Thanks Velsharoon for the compliment. Did you ever see it in action in GW Belfast? When I was full time there I had quite a few games with it and when it wasn't being used it was in the cabinet - way back in 02-04.

And thanks for bigging up my ebay-fu (it helps when you are a web applications developer but have to go serious Old Skool withe Ebay)

I hope it gets a decent sum too - already earmarked a chaos warhound with the profits.

    Regards,
    D.

Very nice. In particular, I love how you paint the faces, especially the fallen Dragon Prince. Do you have a recipe?

Re: Farewell Slaanesh, I loved thee...

@Dark Mage: If I can recall correctly I think I used a blend of bronzed and elf as a base, wash of bestial then rehighlight, paying particular attention to the T zone and the pointed cheekbones of the elf.

Progressive highlights using a mix of Elf/Pallid flesh (sadly no longer available I still have 6 pots ) and white to the Tzone were used to get the look.

I find that the best way to achieve a real-looking face is to just highlight in swift strokes the tzone and cheeks in an inverted 'L' shape.

If you want I could do an up-to-date how to using existing paint ranges.
