BEARDS AND CERAMITE and others too....Project Log of KingMong

    Hi there,

After seeing how my good buddy Putty's project log had grown (and much helpful nudging from him also), I have decided to start up a log of my own.

I have both a 40k and Fantasy army, Space marines and Dwarfs. Below are a few army pictures, in full line up. I will follow up with more up close shots of the individual miniatures soon.

First up, the Space marines of the Imperial Fists Chapter!

Tasty stuff. You do the yellow really well and that's a really hard colour to master. The freehand is great which is fine because I've seen some of your art

I heard your marines gave putty a right rogering last week... Twice XD

well, coz i was playing my nerfed LFGS rules list. :-/

KM doesn't like it when he sees my Tyrants, Carnifexes and Genestealers tucking in on Astartes body parts on normal days.

But all in good fun. He is getting better after every game.

I thought it'd be a log about Space Wolves, based on the title :P. The Fists look great.

Putty: Yeah, it's been put off for way too long. Thanks for all the nagging

Nightsword: Thanks for visiting mate, your log has really cool works, keep them coming!

Putty's had a watered down list alright, because of the tournament restrictions. But he sure made me earn that game, even without his monsters. Had fun and we both learned alot about each other's armies, all in all, great game. Now if only I could put my list together for bigger games......

Khrangar: Sorry for the disappointment man, I sold my wolfs as I really have no time for another army. Busy expanding my imperial fists currently but who wouldn't want a Phil Kelly army? hmm.......

Now for some Beard and Ale!

Back to 40K here, the last of these army shots and from now on I'll focus on singular or unit shots. Hopefully with better photography along the way...

The Grey Knights. I tried using non metallic colors to paint up these awesome miniatures, wanted to challenge myself. Grey Knights are always a joy to paint.

A quick shout out to Putty, for showing me the way to get pictures up here properly. Now it's time for me to learn to shoot pictures properly too... Cheers!

    bigger games you say?

i won't settle for anything less than 1750 pts for a big game.

just remember to pack lots of AP2 - AP3 stuff for that.

Nightsword: Thanks for the link, that's really helpful information. Cheers mate! Being nice won't save me from the carnifexes and tyrants anymore....oh well, where are those combi meltas now?

    Putty: ......Time to paint sternguards

    Now for a closer look:

Vindicator! Had lots of fun painting tanks, needed a break from infantry... Kudos to Putty for those AFV modeller magazines he borrowed me, really good tips for getting that weathered look.

    Closer...closer...

The Razorback, the ONLY fully painted transport in the army right now, the rest are just ...yellow.....arrghhh.... I want to finish up the infantry first before the vehicles. Discipline....

Not a big Space Marine fan but that is a great looking army. How do you do the worn metal look? Both the chips and rust?

You paint them unassembled? Interesting *thinks*

I think, if you're allowed by GW (I take it you are, it's your work but you never know with these MNCs), you should post up your art entry in it's fabulousness.

Cap'n Hammertime looks cool. I think the red needs a little work, the odd highlight or two should do the trick, just to bring it up to the high standard of the rest of the model. New stuff looks promising. Get to it!

    Hi Txamil,

I achieve the worn look by going over the yellow base coat with plenty of watered down brown washes at certain areas. I paint in the chips using a thicker coat of black and scorched brown mix at the edges of surfaces , use a 000 or small detail brush for this process. Finally painting silver within the chipped areas to reveal the metal underneath.

Using the rust range from the Tamiya weathering kit, I dust up certain areas again for a better effect.

    Hope these answer your questions

NightSword: I usually separate the arms of the marines from the body cause I find that they get the way of certain details that I wish to paint up. I usually paint like that thus my armies tend to be rather slow in appearing for games. I will look into the red once I get around to it again.

Now for more close ups, it's back to the Dawi. I had lots of fun painting up these especially, gotta love the details on the metals.
