Heresy age World Eaters

My last thread for these marines seems to have been hijacked by all my other bits of commission work so I decided that it's time to get some order in here and start a world eater only thread so here we go :-

This is a log of a commissioned army that im slowly working on. The fella who im painting them for has given me a loose idea of what he wants and let me play from there!! he's sent/sending loads of spares and full kits to chop and change it's all good :-)

The initial brief is for a heresy marine force sort of on the brink of turning still in original chapter colour's and very few spiky/mutated bit's

This will be a picture heavy thread so should be plenty of eye candy to keep it interesting will update it as things get done

Well lets start at the top.

This was the initial mini that I painted for this force he's a captain and he based on one of the marine veteran models along with an arm of another of the vet mini's that was holding a bolt pistol which I removed and replaced with a double headed chain axe (had to be really). This guy is a bit darker than the rest of the marines, but I suppose you don't have much time to stop and clean your armour when your rebelling :-)

He sort of set the tone for the force, mainly that of it having marine and chaos marine kits mixed together. I think it comes across ok, without making them seem to loyal or to chaos you'll notice that its not going to be correct armour models for the heresy time line.....hope that doesn't put anyone off

Next up we have the first 10 man squad. Gonna keep mutations to a minimum and restrict them to characters and squad leaders, with the idea been that these are the one's that would have earned the favour, and interest of demons first

Just had to use that horned head it looks to good not to, also chopped and repositioned the power glove as im trying not to have them all pointing at stuff

Another one of those must use head's here, chopped the horn off the side and replaced it with an aerial. I think this one really suits heavy weapons. wanted to make it look like he's been using the heavy bolter as a club hence the blood splat on the end of the barrel and the bloody hand print down the front of his chestplate

I blacken everything near the end of the barrel on the mini due to the heat of the meltagun firing also spun the barrel upside down so it had a single spike on top

that's pretty much unto date with all the stuff from the old thread so here's something new

Latest thing that's been painted is a black reach dread, I'm surprised by how good these new plastic snapfit mini's are.

For this one I've gone with plenty of damage, and a couple of small conversions. Swapped two of the powerfist fingers(?) for chaos chainswords, wasn't sure how this would turn out (always a bit wary about chopping up other peoples mini's) but went with the swords with a slight bend in the end of them, made them look like they a can still grip and could always be used as other dread weapons. Also added a chain sword to the bottom of the multi melta as well. I've kept all the marking to the top of the dread for no other reason than it filled in the large flat space on top (nothing to do with all the other flat areas been full of battle damage honest)

Looking very good so far, You might want to dab some Ardcoat to make some of the blood spatters look "fresh"

Love 'em. The scheme is ace, and the amount of dirt and blood is suitable. Thumbs up, and I'll be watching.

that dread looks really nie and crisp - i especially like the fist, though i think the chain fingers would look better the other way round with the chain brlt on the inside.
