    IG Cadians (City Themed)

    Hello!

I'm a avid 40K nerd that started painting 40k about 6 years ago. I've always been into the Imperial Guard. I started up with a city themed cadian army (3 figures anyway) but later decided on a American/Iraq-themed one.
Here's a link to my old log: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112098

Now I've going back to my original idea with a city themed Cadian army. I really want to go for a classic 40k army. Dirty, muddy and grim.

I'm a lot more dedicated this time and now I (more or less) finish every new squad/tank etc. before I start on the next one. Wich also adds for a better more regular update of this log.

Feedback is always welcome! Thanks for watching!

Observe. This is the current status of my army (2014-04-27). For more detailed pictures, check out page 2-3.

looking good. I recommend some more shading on the clothing though. Perhaps have it be more grey based (but with black shapes like you have), and then using a simple wash for the shading? It would look quite good I think.

Those are really cool. Ive always liked urban style guard. Looking forward to seeing more.
Life is a game and so is 40k. So stop all the fighting and lets all play.

I am always right about everything. I thought I was wrong once. Turned out I wasn't. Which ment I was wrong about being wrong, so therefore I was right that I was wrong. Proving that I'm always right.

    Re: IG Cadians (City Themed)

So here's the first update, so far I've finished an Infantry platoon (Command Squad with mortar and two infantry squads) and a Sentinel. Right now I'm working on an Armoured Fist squad. Hope to have that finished as soon as possible. All these figures are still missing some highlights. They will also get squad markings eventually (most likely when the new IG codex comes out )

So give me some comments and feedback! I'd appretiate it!

    Re: IG Cadians (City Themed)

As usual, I haven't updated in a long while. I've still been painting though.
I'm going to update the log during the coming week with all the new stuff.

Right now I'd like to show my command squad which I submitted to BoLS for their competition (http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2009/...mment-11944160). I did not make it as a finalist and I hope it's because of the picture quality. Let me know what you think! More stuff coming soon!

These are the same pictures I submitted along with fluff for BoLS competition.

"Col. Jonathan Stark of the 317th Cadian Infantry and his command staff having just killed 13 old brothers in arms led by a Chaos Space Marine of the Black Legion.

The Thirteenth Black Crusade has taken a heavy toll on the 317th who are plauged by heresy and entire companies going traitor, their honour forever tainted by the filth of chaos."

What gun is that? Where's it come from? it's awesome!
Hehe, thanks. It's a slightly converted lasgun that has been molded. I haven't created it myself though. But it's parts from a lasgun and a bolter I think.

    Ridicule,

I am really liking your army so far. It captures the grity feel of urban combat very nicely. The painting is clean and well done. The modeling and conversions are excellent.

The one recommendation I have is that on the whole your color choice seems a bit dull. For more visual interest, maybe pick a shoulder pad or a helmet stripe and paint it in a bright marking. I think either bright red or yellow would work well. This small detail is pretty easy to include in the force, and I think would add a lot of visual draw to your army.

    Keep up the good work.

    I noticed the eyes.
    Which technique did you use?
    They are very well done.

Vex: Lol, eyes have always been my weakness. But thanks! I simply put a Chaos Black dot in the middle of the eyes and then add two small Skull White dots on either side of it, using a citadel detail brush. That's it!

The posing in your command squad is excellent - I love how the standard bearer looks close to exhaustion after what appears to be a bloody hand to hand struggle. Also really like the dude with a "Chelsea smile" - injured but defiant.

You've really managed to add a lot of personality to each individual model and make it tell a story as it were. Props.
