How can his actions be called noble? He has the power to save countless lives and ease suffering and he never uses it.

If you saw a man walk past a drowning child in a brook, a man who could save the baby just by reaching in and grabbing him but who didn't do it, would you call his actions noble?

    He'd be a bastard.

Quite so. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for the world Tom is easily distracted and places his priorities in other places.

Tom's task (either self appointed or not) is to protect nature by being a loving, caring part of it. Maybe Tom feels that it is constant small acts that will save us all and grand gestures are just not in his nature. If everybody acted like Tom, how great would the world be? But he wouldn't force anybody to act how they should. That would have no value. But if everybody realised that the world could be wonderful if we all acted (the way Tom does) the way we know we should, well, now that is a true victory.

    Sheesh, what a hippy. lol.
