I see you've really been using that tool to make ribbed-tubes out of green stuff. What is it and where can you get it??
I think it's called TubeTool. Rather expensive (£30) but it's a great tool I couldn't have made myself.
AFAIK only place you can buy it is - http://masq-mini.com/artikeldetails....=240&sprache=2

This one really has that bulky superhuman feel to him. Nice.

looking great fella, that latest Imperial Fist is really something else, the epitome of your work in my opinion! as ever i'm looking forwar to your next update.
Dude, been wandering about your site. I haven't seen any Plague Marines, I'm very curious how you would make a champion of Nurgle!![]()

I have to admit Plague Marines are probably my least favourite of the chaos variants, they're just so unappealing. Nurgle-esque stuff is pretty easy to do on entry level converting because of it's gribbliness, where the greenstuffing can't go wrong; if it looks a mess it'll probably pass for something suitable.
On the other side of the coin, to make a top quality Nurgle conversion the detail needs to be really sharp and there needs to be tons of it. The fact there is so much opportunity to change the base model means Plague Marines can have huge potential for awesomeness but also be a massive time sink.
I've no plans to do one at this point but if I were I'd stick with the chunky heavier look (thicker armour, etc). I'd tone down a lot of the rotting flesh and entrails aspect of them and make them to look more like walking battle tanks with pitted corroded armour.
Now that I think about it that'd be pretty *******' cool![]()

I'd forgotten all about the Dornian Heresy Blood Angels, they would be plageu-tastic.
Y'know I might have to try making some of them.

Id rather see you make one of those dornian ultramarines. There armor rocks :-)

Dornian Heresy Blood Angels would be pretty cool, you could make them all 'rotten angel' like with decaying wings and such.
I was hoping to see you do some Death Guard, make the corruption look a little bit more subtle than the usual bit tentacles and whatever. The armor somewhat more bloated, rusted, little swellings here and there, maybe some muscle texture shorting underneath the cracks, as if the armor has become the Plague Marine's skin.
But what I really love to see is how you would do the Death Guard styled helmet, their Mk III (or is it Mk II?) helmet is somewhat different from the conventional one.

amazing models. I wish I could sculpt that well.
I like the site update. Thought I was at the wrong site for a minute at first though.

It is an impressive site wide upgrade - well done, and looking forward to what's next!
I am going to try to revive this thread! There is too much epic win contained in here to let it die. But in all seriousness, I have a question about your sculpting tools. I think you use 'colour shapers' right? Do you use the firm or the soft? I think I have firm and Im having trouble getting it to smoothen out to the degree youre able to. Both on the back of the termie legs and .... everywhere else lol

Thanks. Been busy with other things recently but I'm hoping to expand the range of conversions I feature on the site rather than just Space Marines all the time. I will however be running a long term project to start building my own Artscale Lamenters army (hopefully a 12 month project in all).
Sorry I've not been around lately. A lot of distractions, mainly a product called Blu-Stuff that I've been using for press molding for a few years that I'm now able to sell.
To answer your questions. I tend to use the grey medium firmness clayshapers (colour shapers, same thing). I think the secret to getting a smooth finish is to use a soft mix 2:1 yellow to blue and a gentle touch with plenty of lubricant (that's not intended to sound dirty). Generally the softer the tool the smoother the possible finish. You don't want to be using a lot of force, in some cases it's almost "wiping" action.

I'm going to be trying to add content to this thread and my main site masteroftheforge.com with a bit more frequency in future.
This isn't technically an Artscale/Truescale mini, but what the hell it's my thread
This is a rebuild of the stock Vulkan He'stan into something a bit better than the existing skipping rope pose.
I knew that this being a regular scale conversion I wanted to use the existing model as a base to work from, because despite the pose it still has many nice features. I began by cutting away the bulk of the body (after making a mold of the loin cloth so I could restore it later). I attempted this cutting away with a dremmel kit, but in the end I settled on using a pillar drill and an 8mm drill bit just for the sake of saving time. With the release of Finecast I guess we aren't going to see so many difficulties working with white metal anymore, and that's something I'm quite thankful for. At first I only removed the lower legs but after much dry fitting I ended up also removing shoulder pads to give me more freedom with the pose. I remove the pads with a pair of clippers but I would advise anyone using clippers on metal not to use the GW brand as they simply aren't strong enough (I've had a pair of GW clippers snap and nearly take my eye out a few years back).
Before I removed the shoulder pads I made a mold of each to help me rebuild the cloak and the way it drapes over the shoulders. The stubby blade on the spear was removed and replaced with a GK plastic blade. The rest is largely self explanatory. The pose itself was largely inspired by this piece of John Blanche artwork from the old Epic range product (I forget which) with a Blood Angel captain in the center.

and my hat is off to you for how well you blended into his cloak with green stuff. The texture on his cloak is very hard to replicate.
