My random plog. Mostly IG, DE and CSM.

I thought I should open a plog for my armies. Some of you might have already seen some of my DeathGuard or Mordians, and I will now slowly add some pics of stuff that I have painted; it could become pretty random. Please don't expect professional or even only very good pics, I don't have a photobox nor a real camera, so I will be taking the pics with my mobile phone


So, to begin with, a unit of Ogryns that I finished today; it's my second unit and currently lacking a Bonehead because I need a specific BB Ogre model for that.

i always mess it up on my ogres. i seem to make the shadows look too dark. so i have to keep redoing them, heh heh

As I said, the squad lacks a BONEhead, so as an example what I'd like him to look like, here's the one from my other squad (not as well painted - he's a few years old, I used to play him with carapace armour and bionics - the right eye - under the last IG codex. The Ripper Gun was built using parts of a vehicle storm bolter, a vehicle heavy flamer and a 2nd edition Ork stikkbomb).

I like them, only thing that I don't like is the green rims on the bases. IMO black or brown is always the way to go.

I agree on the base rims. When I started painting that army, using different colours for the base rims and the base tops was almost revolutionary, usually it was only Goblin Green drybrushed with bleached bone ^^. I'd like to rebase my whole Guard to Scorched Brown rims, but that's too much work with roughly 300 models.

The ogryns look great Bloodknight, I do like the older models you have used. You've reminded me to finish mine too.

I do like these guys, ad although they are a bit pricey i'm still going to use them. Keep it up, nice work on the bone'ead too!

It is, yes. I just built a Ripper Gun for him and attached parts of an old dozer blade as a CCW to the other hand, and painted him in camo.

I wish I had another one of those dudes so my 2nd squad could get a Bonehead, but since I seemingly cannot find BB Ogres anywhere in shops and GW only sell random models - it would be too pricey a gamble to just order a few and hope to get the right one.

For your amusement and edification: a mission marker that I painted a while ago (I don't have a lot of time to paint currently, with the semester ending): two Mordian scouts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7Kz_0RmNHs) that have to be rescued/captured...well, one of them, the other is dead. The differring base is because I wanted it to fit on our Ash/Cityfight table:

@Souleater: I've got roughly 2K of them painted like that. I will take a few pics tomorrow. The green is just Scaly Green in 4 layers with more and more white on black because I liked the look of extreme highlights on DE. Makes them actually look good.

@DonKarst0n: yep, they are the limited Praetorian casualties.

It's easy. Black undercoat, 50/50 scaly green/black, scaly green, 50/50 scaly green with white. That's it in a nutshell. It is a pretty simple paintjob, but effective enough for me. I had like 3 weeks to paint an 1850 point army of them for a tournament (I wanted to go with Guard, but had been badly hammered in the tourneys before, so I chose to take a different army, and the DE had been awaiting a repaint for years, my first effort was just awful), so I chose a simple route that led to a convincing outcome and let me do all that stuff in a couple of days. The vehicles didn't come out as good as the infantry, but that was because I had like 2 days for 8 of them...Asdrubael Vect will get a bit more love ^^.
