What LOTR related products has everyone consumed?

I've read the Trilogy (in special prize edition), watched the (absolutely beautiful) films, read the Hobbit, am trying to read The Children of Hurin, and have started listening to the BBC Radio Play of them.

    Anyone else?

You mean the thirteen-episode BBC Radio Play with Ian Holm as Frodo? That one is amazing! I absolutely loved it.

Ok, so that's one! Apart from that, I've read the books several times. Idem dito the Silmarillion and I have recently read the Children of Hurin book. The movies, of course, and various computer games.

What I would like to do is read the History of Middle Earth. Sounds like an adventure!

Read the trilogy and the Hobbit twice, Silmarillion seven times, Lost Tales and Unfinished Tales once each, Children of Hurin once, um.......read bits of Morgoth's Ring but got a bit bored.

Watched the movies a lot, played the wargame a bit, a few computer games, painted some models.....learned some Quenya, but then failed horribley to progress....

Re: What LOTR related products has everyone consumed?

I've read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion Unfinished Tales and The Children of Hurin cover to cover only once though i'm always dipping in and rereading large chunks at various points. I've read significant portions of HoME repeatedly (mainly the essays and narratives rather than the bits on how Lord of the Rings reached its finished form). I've read many of the Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien and Tom Shippey's excellent book 'J.R.R. Tolkien: Author of the Century' and a few bits of John Garth's 'Tolkien and the Great War'.

In addition to this i've seen the films more times than i care to mention (extended editions naturally :P). I saw Fellowship of the Ring on the opening night which was electric. I've listened to the BBC radio adaptation numerous times. Now i own it but originally i recorded the broadcasts done in 2001-2002. I've played a couple of computer games and somewhere own the card/board game and the 'Friends and Foes' expansion. I've got numerous 'Art of...' and 'Making of...' books and naturally collect the miniature game (all armies).

I've also professionally studied Tolkien in a short course run by Dr Dmitra Fimi which i did....quite well on . So dammit if all that doesnt make me qualified to speak authoritively on matters of Tolkien i dont know what does!

    John Le Mesurier+anything=excellence.

John Le Mesurier+Lord of the Rings= *deleted by fictional warseer Inquisition* (way of expressing goodness.)

Oh, and I played the computer games too. Didn't enjoy them that much, to be honest.

Gosh. Too much. Bestiaries, all the notes, radio, various copies of each book, all the roleplay sourcebooks, all the movie books, action figures, GW figures.

I even have a replica of Aragorn's longknife. Always wanted a magic sword.

The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Battle for Middle Earth/Battle for Middle Earth 2, Two Towers and Return of the King video games as well as the fantastic movies. Oh yeah, I also have about sixty Gondorian archers/soldiers for the tabletop game. Bought those when it first came out.

I enjoyed the books immensely, as well as the Return of the King video game and movies. The RTS'... Not so much.

I hoover up anything Tolkien related. First started in 1979 after seeing Ralph Bakshi's cartoon version of LOTR!

Re: What LOTR related products has everyone consumed?

the films, and was so happy when the special editions came out, and really unhappy because i had also bought the trilogy just months before they came out.... bought them anyway

Also a proud owner of Weta collectibles very large Cave Troll statue, and i plan adding some more trollesque stuff from weta in the near future.

Collected the first 60 of the lotr magazine and miniature(can't remmber the company). wish i would have carried on collecting them though.

The games, fotr, ttt, rotk.. and the third age (which was alright imo... unitl it got really repetitive and the game ends fighting an eye.. just an eye) for ps2,

Battle for middle earth, 1, 2 and the expansion rise of the witch king which i've just got back to playing again (the campaign).

    the minis from gw.

Bought the books but they're just collecting dust, promised myself I's read them though . ..... edit :and i just started with the first one three or so days ago, got through half of it, and its great... hope to read the the other two now by the end of the year.

And just last week bought conquest for pc. finished the good campaign and I'm on the last level for the eveil campaign in the shire... and that is the only level which for some reason doesn't load, and it really pisses me off after all the effort.

Re: What LOTR related products has everyone consumed?

I own most of the histories of middle earth, but I have to confess that I've only read maybe half of those.

Has anyone outside of Professors of Tolkienology actually read them all. I mean how many different versions of How Galadriel came to Middle Earth or of the how and why of the creation of the various elvish words for butter.

I'm sure there's gold in there somewhere. But its such a lot more work than just reading LOTR or Silmar again.

I've read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, seen the movies in theatre and the Extended Editions on DVD several times...but not enough...

I have the RotK game and an assortment of other minis, but haven't had the opportunity to play it.

Books, movies, soundtracks and GW minis, obviously. Played the War of the Ring boardgame a fair bit. Collected all the Sideshow/Weta busts, helms, weapon sets, medallions and some statues (including the gorgeous mounted Ringwraith). Read a bit of the History of Middle-Earth, but that wasn't so hot. Picked up a handful of action figures once. Have a United Cutlery Glamdring and Legolas' knives, with sheaths. Two sets of big theatre banners. I think that's about it.

    The LotR trilogy
    The Hobbit
    The Silmarillion

A few of the other History of Middle Earth volumes by Christopher Tolkien (some parts are quite interesting, other parts are just early drafts and stuff you already new)
