    Project: Necromunda

Hallo all! This is kind of an offshoot of my blog, The Week's Work, but also a continuation of other, earlier, project logs.

My eventual aim with this is to have at least one of every Necromunda model made (not including Confrontation) and at least one gang for every House and other faction. So far I have models for a (large) Escher gang, the Hellbitches; the Bloody Band, a sizeable Ratskin warband; the Automatics, a starting Goliath gang; and two different Orlock gangs (one belongs to my wife) - the Fox River Gang and the Aldwych Sharp Boys.

If you click the links you'll be taken to the Gang roster, complete with battle reports where applicable.

I'm currently working on the Bloody Band, with four more to paint before it can be classed as 'currently complete', although I do still have 7 more to paint and I need Brakar, the Avenger, He Who Rains Death, and Shaman 1 (with staff, lasgun and bare head) as well as a box of the new Ratskins.

The Automatics are currently complete, with all 9 starting members done, and a few spares to paint, although I do need to get hold of both some plastic Goliaths and all the old metal ones (bar a couple of the Juve figures).

The Hellbitches are almost totally finished, I just have a Heavy, a Ganger and the Leader with Boltgun to paint. That said I will eventually be buying another box of Escher to convert up a few Ganger models for some of my Juves, and also for some more options - flamer, grenade launcher, needle sniper rifle, that sort of thing.

Then there's my Hired Guns - I've got all the Scummer models, most of the old Bounty Hunters, a Wyrd Pyromaniac, a Wyrd Telekinetic, and a handful of other ones, many of which aren't GW models at all.

So, without further gibbering, some pictures!

An OLD gang shot of the Hellbitches. The Ogryn Hired Gun never got fielded by them, and is currently in the employ of the Fox River Gang. Alice Darque, the Gang Leader, is now seriously upgraded (power sword, mesh armour, etc)...!

Alice Darque, the Leader, before she got really powerful (she controls three settlements now - she's known as 'Boss Darque' or 'Mayor Darque')

I'm not sure, but I think she may have died and the figure been renamed as another Juve got an identical loadout.

Both Heavies (although Black Tanya is in line for a Heavy Stubber, as one of my Juves is a Specialist who will inherit her Plasma Gun when she becomes a Ganger) and Kristine X, who was shot in the head by an Arbite Rhino's remote-controlled boltgun and killed. The model has a different name now.

    More to follow... stay tuned!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

Yay for double posting! Stupid image limit grumble mumble moan whinge...

This one's a Weaponsmith unless I miss my guess.

She has a leg wound, so stays with the Heavies for some combat support.

I think she's still around? She can Disarm, which is most useful.

Ms Easy, famed for poisoning her blades, becoming Frenzied, and taking a Ganger, a Juve, and herself OOA with a stunning 16 (or was it 26? I forget) attacks! She survived - the Ganger didn't.

Wildsnake Bliss, RIP. Again, the model got renamed, but poor Bliss (who killed (snakeyes!) a Goliath Leader, one of only a few Hellbitches to have a genuine kill) was one of my favourites. W3 didn't stop her being murdered by Van Saar swines, IIRC.

She's a ganger now, and the model is someone else.

    STILL more to come!

Every Escher gang should have a Gimp. Mine's had two - the first was burned to death by Redemptionists and the second received a Head Wound and a Chest Wound but is still pretty handy with his weapons.

Again I think she's become a Ganger, but I don't have a model to represent her as one yet.

More posts later - I'm being booted off the laptop!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

Why thank you! I'm quite proud of them myself. I hope to make the rest of my collection just as good.

    More Escher!

    Hell, a bitch. Geddit?

One of the few rifle-armed gangers; Bette supports the Heavies in laying down firepower.

Alice Darque as she finished the final campaign (well, apart fom the amour - it was mesh, rather than carapace). Power sword, plasma pistol, autopistol, and more!

Truly Darque, Alice Darque's little sister.

Darling, the Juve-carer. She looks after them and provides extra firepower with her shotgun.

Princess Donna, another member of the firebase.

    STILL more to come!

Another (out of date) group shot:

Firebase Five, Combat Quintet, Juvie Three and The Boss Bitches (plus Gimp).

Loot Counters, made for the Hellbitches, but actually work rather well for everyone.

The latest one - just three more to do, until I get more... Whee!

At some point I'll do a more up-to-date goup shot.

    Re: Project: Necromunda

Hired Guns! I think this is all of the ones I've got painted so far...

Benjamin, aka Meat, the Ogryn. Originally for the Hellbitches but in the end employed by the Fox River Gang (my wife's lot).

Sniper - 'One-Shot'. Employed twice by the Hellbitches, failed both times to do much. Still one of my favourite models though.

Doc Mangapore, crazy Doc and organlegger.

Tough Tina, PDF Deserter (Hive Secundus 239th) who hiked from Secundus to Primus.

My neo-nazi scummer, 'Skrewdriver' Chiswick. Controversial but funky.

Arty Fissial, Pit Slave with Claws.

    STILL more to come!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

    And now, the Goliaths!

The Automatics are inspired by a sort of Classic Punk thing, with tartan, leather, chains and a bastardised anarchist look.

    Masher, a Ganger:

Micky Skull, a Ganger, and Ded Cred, my second Heavy (earmarked for a Heavy Stubber):

    Gary Bovver, the last Ganger:

    Group shots!

    Leader and Gangers.

    Heavies and Ganger.

    Ganger and Juves.

    The Automatics! So far:

I've still got a few Juves, a version of Ded Cred with a heavy stubber, and some spare Ganger models to undercoat and paint up, but they probably won't get done until and unless the Automatics see action in a campaign.

    MORE to come still!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

And now, my Ratskins. This collection of models is my oldest Necromunda gang - I've had them for years, and only started painting them up in 2008.

L-R: Martin Twospiders, David Runs-With-Rats, Chris Sharpeye; Tom Night

Martin Twospiders is a Ratskin Warrior now.

Joe Warmeyes, the Frenzied (or Stupid) Brave with Bezerk Charge on a personal religious quest to cleanse his soul... and the warband's mentor, Nate White-Eyes, shaman and warrior of the Hive Spirits!

Note that since I took this photo last year, White-Eyes has had his base finished.

Chief 'Bloody-Hand' Chulain, with 5 o' clock shadow and underarm hair...

    STILL more to come!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

Martin Twospiders, the Warrior. Again, like the Shaman and Chief, his base has been finished since the photo was taken last week.

Dave Longtooth - one of the wiser members of the Band. Here seen giving it some with his autogun.

An updated shot of all three from this week, with the bases complete on Twospiders and the Chief.

Only four more Ratskins to do before they're complete, but after that I've got four more Warriors (three with lasguns, one with a shotgun) and three Braves with close combat conversions to do. They're not as important as they're not in the warband yet.

NO more to come ... yet.

    Whew, a lot of models!

I rather like the the tartan on your Goliaths, might have to steal that idea for my Escher gang.

    Re: Project: Necromunda

The tartan was a stroke of genius, even if I do say so myself.

My Hired Guns so far (minus the Ogryn):

Now, here's some pictures of what I still have to do - and it's an incomplete list because the photo I took of my close combat Orlocks was blurred beyond use!

The last three Escher - L-R: Aimee Darque, Black Tanya v.2, unknown

Four Ratskin Warriors - three with lasrifles (!) and one with shotgun

Combat Braves - Autopistol and sword, massive club, knife and club

    Underhive Scum - Ex-Goliath, Ex-Delaque, Ex-Van Saar, Ex-Orlock

More Automatics - a selection of Juves this time

    More to come...!

    Re: Project: Necromunda

    More stuff to paint...

'Spare' Automatic gangers plus Ded Cred v2 toting his Heavy Stubber

Wyrd Telekinetic, Wyrd Pyromaniac, and two Bounty Hunters!

Orlock Heavies and the leader of the Aldwych Sharp Boys

    [IMG]http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c51/GenSteiner/Toy%20Soldiers/DSC05448.jpg[/IMG
Orlock Gangers with autoguns and lasrifles

Orlocks with shotguns, including one of my favourite Necromunda models; the metal Orlock with shotgun

Orlock Juves, including one with a hand flamer

And that's it! Well, there's the Orlocks with CC loadout and the gunfighter (Bolt Pistol and Laspistol), but that'll be for next time.

Expect an update with one or two Ratskins in it either later today or tomorrow...

    C&C demanded!

Love the gangs! They're really characterfully painted, and it particularly makes the escher models look great, which i've never been a fan of up until reading this log. plus i love the Sinister-Dexter references. Keep up the good stuff.

    Re: Project: Necromunda

I'm glad I've opened your eyes to the brilliance that is Jes Goodwin's Escher. You really do have to paint them in a very fetishistic manner to get the best from them, I think.

    Two more...

    Alf Fivewinds, Brave

    Sam Walks-With-Rats, Warrior

Sam's getting his base finished today, and Poal Coldheart will be done today too, 'finishing' the Band for now, and enabling me to crack on with some 4OK stuff and the odd Hired Gun.

Oh, and here are the Orlocks I had to rephotograph:

My favourites of those are the AP/Chainswor Ganger and the Gunslinger.

    Re: Project: Necromunda

    The Ratskins are finished!

    Poal Coldheart, Ratskin Warrior.

The Bloody Band in all their glory!

The next lot of Necromunda figures will be more Goliaths, as I have joined the Clapham Wargamers' Guild and hope to be taking part in their Necromunda campaign with the Automatics, so look forwards to more 10mm automatic weapon madness soon!
