I do have a 'fantasy uber terrain board' shame is it's only in my imagination at present. So far in will cover at least 5 4'x2' boards. . . . .

Thats fantastic Ash- very realistic. All the scenery looks amazing- I've been looking for ideas for stuff to add to my basing etc and this has been very inspiring- looking forward to seeing more.

This rather nice 'grab bag' of bits. I wasn't sure what was in it from the listing photo, but was pretty sure I could see some resin.
Turns out I've got the best part of a plastic GW Battlefield Accessories Set.
Set of FW resin fuel drums & some barbed wire.
Various small bits of tank detail & the old dozer blade, along with some plastic support struts for something.
A length of FW 'cat walk' from either the tank factory or the Administratum and a load of smashed up resin building bits
- looks like was once a corner section from the modular Cityfight stuff - just what I need to finish off the building front I posted earlier. Well pleased.

These are done'ish, maybe some pigment . . . .
Going to add a tarp to the pallet, half covering the three little 1/48 scale barrels and the equipment case.
Also got hold of these from First Contact Terrain by Dark Arts miniatures, they go very well with their other Dragon's teeth bits. Added a bit of FW barbed wire.

wow! that is an amazing find, nice work on that front, but also any chance we could see a picture of the whole board in its mighty glory with some of this terrain on it?
Very nice job you've done on painting the terrain.
Can you explain the philosophy behind using the salt?
The salt trick is something that comes over from scale modeling - it's a great way of doing a chipped paintjob, by doing a basecoat (the undercolour) and then affixing the salt over that before you add the finished colour. Once it's all dry and set, you take a brush and gently scrub off the salt, which will then give the chipped paint look as it will take the overcoat off with it from the places where it was, leaving just the undercoat behind.

Pretty much what Sauragnmon said.
Having tried this a couple of times now on different types of paint, I'd recommend a coat of varnish over your base colour, prior to the hairspray/salt layer. Especially if applied over a brushed on layer of acrylic. I found when removing the salt layer that the layer underneath was inclined to accompany it, back down to the primer!
Have a go, it's a bit different.

Got hold of an off cut of solid foam roof insulation and made a rather rushed test piece of trench. Carved out a trench shape, covered it in some sandstone coloured grout, made some 'flak board' out of pieces of corregated cardboard, plus a few bits of balsa and the odd plastic detail.
