Dale/Esgaroth Iconography?

Hey all, I figure this is the place to ask. I just painted up a Bard conversion this afternoon. I used an old Halbarad model as the basis for the conversion, tried to clip and file the crown on his quiver down and left a really uneven surface. At present, I just painted a red serpent over it to cover it up a bit (figuring that maybe living in the shadow of Smaug for all those years, the men of the lake had started using him in some of their designs), but was wondering if there was ever any official device or icon that they used to represent themselves? Any info would be much appreciated!

I think I read something in the hobbit about it, in the part were all the armies assembled to drive the dwarfs and bilbo out. I think it stood that esgaroths heraldry was a boat/ship on blue background... But i'm not 100%...
I think Dale actually used Smaug as a heraldry device after his defeat, hence that one of their units where called "Dragon Guard"...

Thanks! Given my skill level, a ship on a blue background is probably a bit beyond me (at least for the side of a quiver), so I'll just stick with the serpent. Since he's supposed to be at the Battle of Five Armies, I suppose the Smaug image is justified, if not a tad early.

It would not be unreasonable to think that Bard would have been given a quiver with a serpent motif as a gift for having killed Smaug.
