Speedfreek's Harlequinade Macabre - Dark Eldar WIP

Everyone is starting a new Dark Eldar army and I want to jump on the train aswell.

The Harlequinade Macabre will be painted and converted as a travelling circus in bright colours but still with a bit of grimdark...


Here is a summary of some of what I have been doing up untill now:

The Razorwing is the most recent addition


Archon/Vect and the Baron, followed by some Incubi


Blood Bride


A Ravager


Painted Wyches


2000 points!


My Venoms made by just using the new Dark Eldar Range.
They're built by the top back part of a Ravager and two Reaver Jetbikers.

Wow these really look good and they completely do the trick for me, only major problems I have with these Venom conversions are the cost and time spend to convert. I'd rather just buy and assemble the Venom models themselves, they'll probably cost about the same as the raiders.

I have a couple of rough WIPs here and here.
I use GWs inks and tried to spray through a net with yellow over the white undercoat, but other than that there is no airbrushing.

Wow these really look good and they completely do the trick for me, only major problems I have with these Venom conversions are the cost and time spend to convert. I'd rather just buy and assemble the Venom models themselves, they'll probably cost about the same as the raiders.

I didn't have the patience to wait for the upcoming GW-models to be released, so I built my own.
BoLS had a competition and they were so easy to convert, so I made two more.
They cost half a box of Reavers each, as the Ravagers will be built with a large jet engine where the rear part is missing and you get four Reaver fronts in each box.

And if you aren't prepared to use a large amount of time on your models, we aren't even talking about the same hobby.

Wow, those Venoms are very nice. This is the second pale Dark Eldar army i've seen, i'm really surprised how well it works.

Luv'ly job SpeedFreak, these are definitely the best Venoms that I have seen yet! I like the design, your paint job, the Harlie riders, and I especially like the fact that you used DE Reaver canopies instead of Viper ones, which I personally hate and don't see the point of. I have wanted to do this on the front-end myself but haven't got around to them yet, so thank you for showing us how they look.

The front is just two Reavers with one canopy sawed in two with GF9s Razor saw (GW has one, but it makes a bit wider cut) and then glued on the sides of the first Reaver bike.

The idea of painting the whole army Harlequin style is indeed pretty origional and could look very awesome when done.

Love the look. Usually venom conversions don't maintain the theme of the other DE vehicles but these plug that gap brilliantly!

I have as a goal to have 1750p done untill Easter and if it goes better than planned I can put in a couple of super expensive characters and go to 2000p this spring...
