Re: Engel's Eldar - Primary Color Army No.3

It has been many, many years since I purchased my MkII Scorpion. And today, I have finished it.

I custom designed some larger decals in order to do this, which came out well enough. I've found the issue with painting a model this size is one of practicality in handling during painting and such. The black stripes in particular this time were very awkward for some reason I can't pin down. Kept having to re-do things, especially before matte sealing the whole thing.

I gave her a MUCH bigger base (105mm) than the FW rules recommend and it's very stable. Getting the whole thing even and floating perfectly was... a challenge.

I went a little extra on the decals because it's such a big model, but kept it minimal. Pilot names and such are on the right hand side, other details are just sort of "there."

As with previous Eldar tanks, it was a joy to paint, and really only took me February long, which is a great pace for me! Learned some lessons for the Cobra MkII as well, which I think will help a ton.

Thanks! Every time I make a post here I'm not 100% convinced it won't be the last because this Forum will just disappear. I do wish there was some form of easy thread download tool. There's a lot of history and memories in the plog and my others.

Anyway, I finished my metal Autarch! Even with a work trip it finished relatively quickly but man, I do not miss painting metal. I used the glaive and fusion gun from the new plastic Autarch kit (also a 25 to 32mm 3D printed base converted because of his little tab) and it works quite well! I'm pretty happy with the pose and the paint job. Lots of Contrast, as usual and touch up was a bit of a pain. Now that I see the close ups this isn't near my usual level of neatness and I attribute that to the "softness" of a lot of metal shapes and details making it harder to pick out with the naked eye.

Oh well, he looks good enough on the tabletop, and I enjoy how the white jump generator came out!

Forums in their entirety seem to be a dying breed. Everything these days is social media, Reddit, Discord; outside of BoardGameGeek the "classic" format is losing a battle against obsession aggregators.

Clicking on the Warseer shortcut feels like opening a time capsule. Always happy to see said time capsule filled with classic Eldar painted in a clean red. Keeping the dream alive.

Cheer's Steve! I'd be lying if I don't spend a lot of my old forum time on Reddit these days. Better than having a login for every different forum for each and every hobby in many ways but also... som impersonal.

Thanks all, back on the Eldar this week. Night Lords up next.

Knocked these guys out in about a week with some Contrast and traditional paints. This brings the full squad to 10 strong, which is apparently what one wants.

They're not my greatest work, but they'll do well enough on the tabletop.

Those turned out great. I have been playing around with contrast paints lately and been quite enjoying them.
