I like the collapsed second floor- great idea!

Here are the last few tiles of the board:
This is a crashed aquila lander I obtained from my friend. The large and small piece was glued to the tile and given some rubble effects to mesh with the rest of the city scape:
Finally, the second half-tile building made from pegasus hobbies components. This building fits well with the 40k/cities of death model line:
The building's attic was the trickiest part. Since the pegasus line doesn't come with any floor or roof components, I had to make the floors and roof from textured plasticard. This was finicky but I finally managed to figure out the dimensions with some cities of death girders on the sides of the building. It turned out quite nicely and looks as though a bomb went off in the attic!
Now that all the buildings (that's right!) have all been completed, it's time to start painting! stay tuned for a tutorial post on how I paint my buildings...

Iron Kid

Awesome stuff- I am looking forward to seeing it painted.

I added a few antennas and a front piece to the satellite:
I also made a little balcony using a piece from the wyvern kit:
The half tile buildings break up the patterns of the square tiles and add density to the city.

Clever use of some pieces from the vehicle kits.*thumbs up*

I made some great progress on the city board today - I got everything basecoated! It only took me an afternoon and I used only three colours:
I made sure to buy lots of spraypaint and it was worth the preparation. I used up almost all the black and comfortably used up one can of each other colour (keep in mind, these spraycans are jumbo sized - even longer than your average spray can).
With these colours, I was able to paint the entire city! all buildings and roads are now complete:
As you can see, the spraypainting gives the city a unique and uniform feel. It already looks relatively finished! However, there is still lots of detailing that needs to be done - Luckily, I can do this over the winter comfortably. I am happy I was able to get this done as the weather will be too cold for priming outside now.

Iron Kid
That worked out excellent. Smart to mix in different colours; you get some variation but overall uniformity.

First and foremost, I am adding some details on to the soup can containers. Being the perfectionist I am, I added some rivets, a top ventilation and a space for a numbered decal:
Next are some photos of other barricades, scatter terrain, and markers I plan on adding to the city that are in different stages of completion:

Let me know what you guys think - next post will be the tutorial!

Great use of those soffit vents- I have done something similar in the past.

amazing work。 Like the conversion
Great buildings! Really good ideas in the conversions and combinations of kits!

Wow, thanks for the comments, guys!
Here is a tutorial - Part 1:
You will need:
spray paints - this is what I used:
We got black spray, a red-ish/brown-ish colour, and a light-ish grey. I also had a dark brown spray paint (not in the picture). I try to vary the colours - I have a brown, grey, black, and maybe another colour - but use any combo your heart desires!
Step 1:
I prime my entire building with black - make sure to get ALL the recesses.
Step 2:
I add a little bit of colour to the areas where I think would have been scorched from the burning of a building - make sure to leave some recesses!
Step 3:
I take the red/brown spray and add a little highlighting to the brown - again, making sure both the black and dark brown show through.
Step 4:
I "dust" the model with the light grey spray. Since this colour is quite bright, I am careful not to spray too much of the building.
Step 5:
Finally, I alternate between all the colours until I'm happy with the results. The building in this step is slightly darker than the last - I wanted the darker colour since I would be drybrushing it while painting it.
My next update will be me painting the details of the building. I will also post an update with the finished board (where all the buildings are set up for a battle!).

Iron Kid
Awesome plog! I'm in the process (very slow process) of building a similar board. I have the same old GW article as you, so some of your buildings look identical to mine!![]()
Some of my concerns with my project:
I want to make some road tiles (to create some open space among all the ruins), but how to make the surface of the road itself? Plasticard? Maybe fine sandpaper to get a tarmac-y feel?
What is the best way to make rubble piles? I'm currently looking into combining smashed up plaster, cut up GW sprue and sand to get different sized bits. I've seen kitty litter used as well, but I don't know how it would work. For creating large pileas of rubble I intend to cut a rough shape in polystyrene to get the shape of the mound and then glue rubble on top. This should make it more lightweight and less material will be needed.
Keep up the great work!
Apparently I deleted my post when I wanted to edit a spelling error...oh well, I'll post it again:
