    Ascending to Infinity

Lately I have been a) listening to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU9nk9GPzPQ , b) painting a few Infinity miniatures and c) building terrain to go with them.
Edit: Also, some Malifaux from page 13 on (Hey, this IS the random plog section )

This is the miniature that started this all. Got it from a friend who bought the Yu Jing-Starterset. As the arm holding the shotgun was missing, he kindly replaced it with one from a Celestial Guard (he didn't need both minis apparently).

She'll be my lieutenant, therefore I tried to add a few japanese kanji to her scabbard later on:

Pictures are a bit 'meh'. I need a new camera
Edit: I have a new camera. I will try to replace the old pics over time

Next thing I did was buy a box of Haramaki. The sculpts are awesome, they're a joy to paint.
Here's the first one I finished:

Again, pictures don't really do the minis justice.
I'm gonna upload the rest over the next few days (they're already mostly finished).

    And the next haramaki:

And a bit of new terrain:

I already had a few of the pueblo-style buildings (made originally for Legends of the Old West) and wanted to continue to use them.
So I decided to build the scenery of a backwater planet - basically so that I can also use it in LotOW, Warhammer Fantasy and 40k without too much trouble.
I will make a few small bits that can be added to make it look more sci-fi, as well as a few things exclusively for that setting

I think this one's the most boring pose of the whole set - and it's still looking a lot more dynamic and elegant than all of my GW miniatures...

And more terrain, this time not only a pueblo-thingy, but one with added sci-fi-bits (that are seperate parts and can therefore be used elsewhere (or not at all)):

And a simple large building and a watchtower:

Your terrain looks nice and I like your Domaru with the arm of the celestial guard. That said, from a WYSIWYG perspective she's not an obvious lieutenant for your force.

    Re: Ascending to Infinity

@Duke Donald: Thanks! I know the Dumaru isn't exactly WYSIWYG. I wanted to indicate her weaponry with the shotgun shells on her base, but only later realised that the lieutenant option for the dumarus is actually armed with a chain rifle But I don't think that's going to be a problem. Quite a lot of the Infinity minis aren't modelled with what they're actually armed (two of the Haramaki are only modelled with CCWs, although the have contenders or combi-rifles in their profile).

And speaking of haramaki, here's the fourth:

I love that pose, totallly badass!

    @juicytomatoes: Thanks!

Got some terrain finished (or very nearly finished):

Since the pic, the antenna and the building it belongs to have been washed in places to make it more defined and weathered.

Got another Dumaru on eBay. Converted her slightly and the painted her (went quite fast - as I don't have myriads of figs to paint for this game, it makes painting much more relaxed - and therefore fun, which means I paint more often).

I hadn't realised that the Dumaru could be a lieutenant in the Japanese sectorial list. You're making some really good progress. The minis and the terrain look good, I like in particular the wall with all the posters.

How did your first games go? I'm at the same stage but moved straight to rules from the rulebook as I found the quickstarter confusing.

    Re: Ascending to Infinity

@Duke Donald: Very quick actually. We didn't use most of the special rules, just trying to get to grips with the basic rules. Had to look up a few things in the main rulebook though, e.g. the quickstarter rules don't cover the situation if several model have line of fire to a model receiving an order.
Both games lasted about half an our or so I think. One victory for Yu Jing, one for PanOceania. But as we switched armies, two losses for me Was fun nonetheless.

And actually, at the moment, the dumarus are the only models egilible for lieutanant

Went to my LGS yesterday to pick up my order i had placed with them (Shinobu Kitsune), only to find out it hadn't arrived yet. So there goes my planned weekend project.
Instead, I started putting some paint on this one:

Liked the mini when I bought it, not so sure now.
Gamewise he'll proxy for Myamoto Musashi or something like that.

    C&C appreciated!

Really nice work. I've been tempted by Infinity for over a year now. I think I'll give in tomorrow.

I was planning to get Nomads and paint them orange, so it's good to see that the color works.

@Caiphas Cain: Thanks. You won't regret starting Infinity, it's a cool game. I hope you let us see your Nomads when they're done!

Got almost no painting done this weekend. But I have made some small things for my growing collection of terrain:

I'm impressed by the pace at which you're adding stuff to your thread. I like the Myamoto Musashi stand in; it's a nice mini. Your new terrain also looks good.

    Re: Ascending to Infinity

    Thanks!

But as my order still hasn't arrived , the next few days will probably be without an upgrade. But on the coming weekend I'll be at the Tactica (a german TableTop fair) an I highly suspect that I won't be leaving that without a few more things to paint...

    Anyways, pictures (of dubious quality)!

    Re: Ascending to Infinity

Came back from the Tactica with only one blister (and four old WDs - for 2€), because everythin else I wanted was sold out. So I ordered it instead (hopefully it will be combined with my still missing order...).

And that one blister was a ninja with sniper rifle. Pics are a bit crap, sorry for that. Her armor turned out a bit more darker and muted than the others, but thats ok, she's meant to be camo'ed anyways

Edit: Took new picture. It's better. Slightly...

And with some fiddling with GIMP:

So, my orders were combined and sent of by my LGS, but haven't arrived yet
Therefore no new pics of minis. Instead I built some small terrainpieces.
Two 40k-themed objectives markers and a barrel:

    And a few smoke stacks:

    Re: Ascending to Infinity

My order finally arrived and I'm looking forward to painting on the weekend.

And because it would be a lousy update without pictures (even if it's a lousy picture):

    Still WIP, obviously. C&C appreciated!
