    Night Goblins 1000 points

I've decided to retire my Chaos Warriors recently and I'm thinking about just doing a small 1000 point list (that will eventually expand to 2000) to have fun with. I narrowed it down to Orcs and Goblins, specifically all Night Goblins. The problem is I have no idea what I'm doing with Orcs and Goblins, let alone Night Goblins. This is what I came up with.

    Lords
Night Goblin Warboss: Armour of Destiny, Ironcurse Icon, Great Weapon - 111 pts

    Heroes
Night Goblin Big Boss: BSB, Great Weapon, Standard of Discipline - 74 pts
Night Goblin Shaman: lvl 2 - 85 pts
Night Goblin Shaman: lvl 2 - 85 pts

    Core
38 Night Goblins: Spears, Full Command, Netters, 2 Fanatics - 239 points <- Warboss + BSB here
20 Night Goblins: Short Bows, 2 Fanatics - 110 pts <- Shaman here
20 Night Goblins: Short Bows, 2 Fanatics - 110 pts <- Shaman here

    Special
10 Night Goblin Squig Hoppers - 120 pts

    Rare
    Mangler Squig - 65 pts

    999 pts

My plan seems to be to have the bow gobbos on the flanks of the horde, have the squig hoppers rocket off to deal with targets of opportunity and aim the Mangler at anything tough. I'm not sure if I kit my Lord and Heroes out correctly though, and I feel I overspent on characters for how cheap everyone is.

The Warboss would cost 116pts, so it's 1004pts overall.
How were you planning to kill monsters/tough targets? (I'm not very experienced, just curious)

You're right, he's 5 points over. I always mix up the cost of Armor of Destiny and Talisman of Preservation, so I'll ditch Ironcurse Icon.

As for killing monsters/tough targets, I honestly don't know. It sort of skipped my mind. I'm open to suggestions though.

I kind of like this list. For a small 1000 pts army it's nice. I just think that your "horde" is way to small. I would have 40/50 because NG are just way too weak and you don't wan't to take panic tests with NG's.
I would even consider to drop 1 unit of short bows who don't do much damage. I use my NG with short bows just for the fanatics and occasionally kill enemy weak chaff.

I would maybe drop 1 shaman for 2 NG heroes with great weapon. These guys are what makes a NG horde worth it. They will do 80% of the damage.

Otherwise I like it. Throw your mangler squigs into monsters and prey for the OS.

PS : With NG I think you just always overspend on characters.

Night Goblin Shaman: lvl 2 - 85 pts

    Core
50 Night Goblins: Spears, Full Command, Netters, 2 Fanatics - 275 points
20 Night Goblins: Short Bows, 2 Fanatics - 110 pts
20 Night Goblins: Short Bows, 2 Fanatics - 110 pts

    Special
8 Night Goblin Squig Hoppers - 96 pts

    Rare
    Mangler Squigs - 65 pts

    Total - 999 pts

How about this? I ignored my obsession for making gaps in units for characters to fill (why I had 38 in my horde, space for 2 characters) to just have neat numbers, I also kept the second unit of short bow night goblins because both units can protect the flanks (as best they can) of the horde. I had to drop 2 squig hoppers to make the points, but I think they'll still do okay... I've been on the receiving end of 7-8 squig hoppers with my Ogres. It didn't end well for me.

At last somebody else who sticks with theme, I find it refreshing to see a night gobo warboss instead of a common ol' goblin one with a cloak on to lead da lads. otherwise I like it.

Looks Cool - Are you certain on going all Night Goblins? You wont Yield and whack a normal Gobbo Big Boss in there?

    This is what I run:
    Heroes: 245
Goblin Big Boss (62) - General
Sword of Might, Charmed Shield, Light Armor

    Night Goblin Big Boss (34)
    Great Weapon

    Night Goblin Big Boss (74)
Battle Standard Bearer, Leadership Banner, Great Weapon

    Night Goblin Shaman (75)
    Level 1, Dispel Scroll.

    Core: 344
    38 Night Goblins (214)
    Full Command, Nets, Fanatic

I run all the Characters in this unit at 5 wide - putting the Great Weapon Boss and the General in the front with the command and the squishy guys behind.

    5 Spider Riders
    5 Spider Riders

    Special:
    4 Trolls
    4 Trolls

    Rare:
    Mangler Squig
    Mangler Squig

    Total: 998

Trolls are cool against high armor stuff and because I have 2 Manglers and 8 Trolls they HAVE to make a choice about what they shoot - something is getting into there points.

Dark Aly: When I got for a theme I try not to deviate from it.

TDK88: I'm still in the "work out a list" phase. I'd prefer pure Night Goblins, but I'm actually currently experimenting with a mixed Goblin list too.

    Trolls are awesome with NGs.

Good for you. Using common gob characters in night goblin armies seems too gamey to me, likewise including war machines without common gob units does too. Maybe I just have hang ups from previous editions though. Trolls however are the best way for night goblin armies to get some punch (and manglers of course )

I must confess to having a little difficulty with my own night goblin army whereas my common gobbos and my orc army have more success and the NG's are good in a combined force.

    Re: Night Goblins 1000 points

I'd probably have to drop a unit of Bow Goblins + some other stuff to fit in Trolls. Speaking of normal Goblins, I actually haven't looked into a list for them... they seem to have a few more options than Night Goblins.
