    Ork Clan differences back in RT days

    To avoid derailing the rumour threads, I've compiled this fairly exhaustive summary of the army composition rules for the various Ork Clans back in RT days.


    Everybody got:
    • 1 Warboss
    • 1 Warboss' Retinue [5+ Nobz, up to 1 of each type of Oddboy (Mekboyz, Painboyz, Weirdboyz & Runtherdz)]
    • 1 Big Mob
    • 0+ Boyz Mobz
    • 0+ Freebooterz Mobs [oddball special units, like Ork Genestealer Hybrids or Flash Gits]
    • 0+ Oddbitz [artillery, dreads and vehicles, dependent of Oddboyz]



    And, typically:
    • 0-1 Stormboyz Korpz
    • 0-1 Mad Mob
    • 0-1 Wild Mob
    • 0-1 Gretchin Mob
    • 0-1 Ogryn Mob



    Goffs
    • unlimited Stormboyz Korpz
    • can't take Gretchin Mobs
    • Warboss + Nobz can't take ranged weapon upgrades (flamer, plasma gun, etc)
    • Nobz are cheaper
    • Retinue can take a free Goff Rok Band
    • Can upgrade a number of members of the Big Mob / Boyz Mobz to Skarboyz
    • Members of the Big Mob / Boyz Mobz come with extra bolt pistols for free
    • Boyz can get 2 Nobz
    • Slight discount on force fields



    Bad Moons
    • unlimited Gretchin Mobs
    • Extra Weirdboy for the Retinue
    • Big Mobs and Boyz mobs can take twice as many heavy weapons
    • Big Mob can take a Rhino
    • Boyz can get a Nob + a Weirdboy
    • Each Painboy lets you buy 2 Dreads (instead of just 1)
    • Each Runtherd lets you buy 2 pieces of artillery (instead of just 1)
    • Equipment charts are better



    Death Skulls
    • unlimited Mad Mobs
    • unlimited Gretchin Mobs
    • Extra Painboy & Runtherd for the retinue
    • Boyz can get a Nob + either a Runtherd / Painboy
    • Boyz can get power armour
    • Weapon upgrades are ~20 % cheaper
    • Each Runtherd lets you buy 1 piece of looted Imperial artillery at half price
    • Each Mekboy lets you buy 2 vehicles (instead of just 1) or more Tinboyz



    Evil Sunz
    • Extra Mekboy for the Retinue
    • Retinues, Big Mobz and Boyz Mobs can ride bikes
    • Boyz can get a Nob + either a second Nob / Mekboy
    • Each Mekboy lets you buy 2 vehicles (instead of just 1)



    Blood Axes
    • unlimited Imperial Guard units masquerading as mercenaries
    • unlimited actual Human mercenaries
    • unlimited Ogryn Mobz (who can take Ripper Guns)
    • Retinue always contains an additional Human advisor and may contain an extra Mekboy
    • Retinues, Big Mobz and Boyz Mobs can take a Rhino
    • Boyz can get a Nob + a Mekboy
    • Each Mekboy lets you buy an additional Imperial vehicle



    Snakebites
    • unlimited Mad Mobs
    • unlimited Wild Mobs
    • can't take Stormboyz
    • Extra Painboy & Runtherd for the retinue
    • Retinues, Big Mobz and Boyz Mobs can ride Boars / Cyboars
    • Wild Mobs can take Boars
    • Oddbitz are twice the normal price
    • Equipment charts are worse



    So, to summarize the themes:

    Goffs: Nobz + close combat
    Bad Moons: Weirdboyz + better / more equipment
    Death Skulls: Mad Boyz + more equipment
    Evil Sunz: Bikes + more vehicles
    Blood Axes: allied humies + humie vehicles
    Snake Bites: boars + worse / less equipment
