    imperial miscellany

A thread to log all the various imperial related projects whirring through my poor beleaguered brain.
Lots to follow once I've figured out this new fangled technology :-/

    Re: imperial miscellany

This is my basic IG trooper for my Hansa Teutonica army.

The Hansa Teutonica is a powerful trade guild founded by the Rogue Trader Wilhelm Wendish beyond the farthest reaches of the Segmentum Tempestus. The guild composes of a large number of Drittelwald or circle worlds spread over many systems presided over by the Margrave of Königswald Franz Lübeck.

The Margrave has recently reaffirmed the Hansa Teutonica's loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind after once again establishing contact after being seperated for several millenia. Many servants of the Empire have flocked to this recently rediscovered part of the Imperium as a treasure trove of lost technologies, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the Adeptus Mechanicum and the Inquisition

Excellent start, nitro. I see the Teutons are expanding in power across the Imperium...

Would I be right in thinking that he's a combination of Curious Constructs and Victoria Miniatures?

You would indeed be correct with a forgeworld backpack and gw accessories.

I've got lots more to come so I'll try and post one thing per day - squads, platoon command, company command, specialists, Ogryns, Squats, Cavalry, mechanised cavalry, mechanicum, tanks, transports oh my!

Here is my first painted squad, note the sergeant's white gloves so his troops can follow his signals and his white belt.
The Hansa Teutonica has the full resources of several forgeworlds giving them access to a wide range of equipment. Every squad has access to good communications and an armoured transport (pics to follow)

    Thanks :-)
I'm fairly new to this so not entirely sure so am open to suggestions. One of my chums is lending me an imperial guard codex (the one before the latest as that's probably what we're going to be playing)
So far I have 5 regular squads, a platoon command, a company command with advisors, a veteran squad, a squad of rough riders, 5 mechanised rough riders (bikes), 3 snipers, 2 ogryn sergeants, 1 commissar lord, 2 commissars, 1 techpriest, 4 servitors, 1 squat sergeant, 3 count as leman russes, 5 count as chimeras and lots of enthusiasm.
l've also got a large Valhallan infantry company which will be seeing some paint after the Hansa Teutonica are done so fire away with any suggestions for various types of guard companies.
Got lots more bits in the wings including a space marine chapter (IG defense force loosely based on Taniths) and a squad of scouts so far. Also lots of single IG squads from various ideas.
    An inquisitor and small retinue.
They'll all get posted on here eventually!

Oh wow that all sounds amazing, I can't wait!

You played the innocent there saying you didn't really know what direction to take the army, but you've got the makings of a very nice standard guard army.

If you've got 5 chimeras and a good few squads how about making it a specialised armoured fist army? Everyone can count as veterans and be mounted in their own transport which gives you a move of manoeuvrability and a fair bit of firepower. Rough riders act as scouts and you've got the leman russes for heavy support. That could work out very well!

    Very nice!

May I suggest an urban basing scheme, maybe grey flagstones? I tend to think that would set off the theme and paint scheme you've chosen nicely!

All the stuff I've got so far is gleaned from pics on here and on GW and Forgeworld tbh (and stolen glimpses from the codex).

Really like the armoured fist army idea that'd really be in keeping with the Hansa Teutonica background......nice. Thanks.

Nice idea that'd be in keeping with the 1850's origins. Hadn't thought of that.

This is my company commander Oberst Franz Manheim.

Made from a GW Creed, Curious constructs pickelhaube head and GW Empire feathers.

Splendid! I really like the squad as a whole - for basing, I would echo Col. Gravis' suggestion, but if I wanted to be really crazy, maybe a jungle theme?

And I really like your company commander - May I use the helmet idea for inspiration?

I think I might go for a slightly neglected version of Col. Gravis' suggestion maybe some tufts of wilted or dry vegetation.

As for the helmet go for it I'd love to see another take on it. It was quite a swine to do and I had to use some greenstuff to make the 'crown' of the feathers but overall I'm rather pleased with it. The badge of office under his chin was press molded green stuff as I had to increase the height of the head so that it would fit with all that finery on top. Looking forward to seeing your version :-)

Regimental advisors, note the rounded helmet top on the ordnance officer denoting he is assigned to the artillery. The naval officer in full uniform (may do a squad of Kriegmarines to accompany him).

    This is Lord commissar Krampus.

All these guys form part of the company command.
