Beppo Vs. Hive Fleet P'Kor, The Scourge of the Caliban Sector

I've been slowly accumulating some 'nids for the last couple of years. Usually as christmas gift fodder. As my Imperial and Traitor armies are pretty much maxed out, it's time to start up a new faction. Here are the first installments. I previously finished this Swarmlord and Tervigon a few months ago. Here they are:



and finally motivated myself to start in on the termigaunts:




I've called them the Scourge of the Caliban Sector because a local GW manager joked that everything I paint is a variation of Dark Angels and their paint scheme. Joked that these guys had been eating Dark Angels as 'Nids take on aspects of the things they eat.

multi basing: did this to save myself some time, also makes the swarms look more natural with slightly more random spacing.

The plan right now is the Swarmlord, Tervigon, and 30 termigaunts. From there I'll probably add 10 hormagants and 4 warriors... then onto the fun stuff.

And yeah, you do seem to have a fixation on a certain colour scheme, I think I might have seen it a few times across some of your armies... :P

Anyway, nice work man, basing your gaunts like that is a pretty cool idea and your scheme is cool. Keep up the great work!

thanks Silverstu! The plan right now is to do 10 termigaunts, then a carni, then another 10 termis, then another carni... until I've got 30 termis and 3 carnis. Should be enough to hold off the monotony and motivate me to finish the gaunts.

I finished off the first 10 termigaunts, and also got a start on my first carnifex to break up the gaunt monotony a little:



also ordered a whole mess of 60mm bases for more gaunts.

starting in on some more multi-based termigaunts, two more after this should bring me to an even 30 termigaunts:



a couple of lessons learned from the original multi-base termigaunts
1) the termigaunt in the middle is a pain in the rear to paint, so leave it unglued until painting is complete.
2) be careful with arm posing and head direction on gaunts, as this may be troublesome on a multi-base

Thanks silverstu! Yeah, that's the biggest problem with the 'Nids, for me atleast. They need swarms to look sexy, which means a lot of work put into the canon fodder. Here are the next three multi-bases of Termigaunts. These will bring me up to 24 'gaunts.



right now the plan is this:

-finish of the first brood of 30 guants to unlock the Tervigon in troops
-add two more Carnifex to max out that brood (also need a mess of rippers to get the large bases of the carnis done, plus some extras for the multi-based termis and future monsters, I want everything to look crawly)
-add twenty Hormagaunts (4x multi bases, 8x singles)

That'll finish off the core of my 'Nids swarm. From there I can pick and choose what to add. Just gotta get through this initial step and get the core of the swarm all done

I like your idea of multi model bases it really gives that swarm look and I think it works really well. As you say single basing seems to lose that.
