You dam' thread hijacker! And I'm sure you owe me for at least one vintage bottle of amasec from back on Medusa V... grumble mutter.

Anyway! I'm going to try and get some photos in this thread today. I finished a bunch of Rough Riders last night that I'm rather proud of.

Hm. I need a lightbox really... anyway! Back to work! And later, photos!

Hm. I seem to have neglected this thread somewhat. I shall rectify this as soon as I can, as my Imperial Guard army is now... finished! For the foreseeable future anyway.

Re: Gen.Steiner's Grand Army of the Imperium

My dear Colonel, ask, and ye shall receive:

It's a bit pants 'cause it was taken on my phone, but still - near as damnit 5,000 points of Imperial Guard:

Company Command squad in Chimera with Master of Ordnance, Astropath, and Navy Liason Officer.
Leman Russ Troop with Captain Count Geranium of Bigbush and Littletree in a Vanquisher.
    Lady Commissar
    Primaris Psyker
    Techpriest and four Servitors
    6 Commissars
    5 Priests
    5 Ogryns with Chimera
    10 Stormtroopers
    10 Ratlings
    35-strong Platoon in Chimeras
    35-strong Platoon in Tauroxes
    10 Veterans in Chimera
    9 Sentinels (3 armoured, 6 scout)
    Hellhound
    Valkryie
    10 Rough Riders
    2 Demolishers
    2 Hydras
    2 Griffons

I'm calling a halt to its expansion for the time being, as I want to concentrate on finishing off my other Armies of the Imperium (Righteous Fists Space Marines, Black Templars, Red Hunters, Space Sharks, Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Space Wolves, Dark Angels Doublewing, Sisters of Battle) before I come back to the Guard.

When I do come back to the Guard I want to add one more platoon of 2nd Edition Cadians (mixed with some of Victoria Miniatures' lovely female Arcadians) in Chimeras, another old-school Hellhound, an Armageddon pattern Basilisk, and some other bits and bobs (I'm in two minds as to whether or not I should do a unit of Psykers in a funky Chimera with a Priest and a Commissar to babysit them) to bring me up to 6,000 points - then I'll pop in a Baneblade and a Shadowsword and really call it finished.

Re: Gen.Steiner's Grand Army of the Imperium

Ok, the Hydras were a purchase from eBay. I have no idea where the aftermarket turrets are from; they're mounted on Razorback turret plates using upturned slottabases! The Rough Riders are Tallarn riders (from eBay) on Lizardmen Cold Ones (from eBay) with green stuff saddles and various accoutrements added. What was meant to be a quick conversion turned out to be a total swine.

Anyway, I'm going to show off the Guard army starting with the HQ options:

Company Command - technically Red Company Command, White Battalion, Rigellian LIX Mechanised Infantry. Captain Steiner commanding, accompanied by his Ogryn bodyguard.

L-R: Forward Artillery Observer, Parvassian CCXV Artillery Regiment; Commander, Naval Liaison Detachment; Astropath and Primaris Psyker of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica.

Charlie Troop, Red Company, White Battalion, Valachian MXI Armoured - Captain Count Geranium of Bigbush and Littletree commanding from 'Flammeus Princeps'.

The Commissariat - without Lady Commissar, who, actually, technically, isn't finished, so, you know, technically my Guard army isn't quite yet done. Sort of. But SHUSH. I painted all of these in a single painting session.

The Ecclesiarchy - this shot is missing my Uriah Jacobus figure, but as neither he nor Redemptor Kyrinov take the field with the Imperial Guard I'm not bothered.

Overworked Techpriest. Here seen without his Servitors, who do double duty in my Space Marine army until such time as I get more Servitors! I also really want the Titan Techpriest from FW because that model is gorgeous.

Re: Gen.Steiner's Grand Army of the Imperium

    Now for some Elites choices!

Ogryns! Five of them, because I want to be able to play 4th Edition as well as the latest editions. I'm very proud of the Munitorum Chimera in its overall grey and with the Russian-inspired marking on the turret. Also, I did tattoos. My personal favourite is the 'Empra Protex' graffiti on the mohawk-Ogryn's shoulderpad.

Ratlings! I've had these buggers since the late 1990s. I really like them, they're my favourite of all three versions of the Ratlings that GW have made. I deliberately painted them so they looked extra dirty and scruffy as I personally see them like a sort of sweary, grubby, hobbit. As if gollum described a hobbit in a fever dream and then someone had the resulting description acted out by Irish drunks in unwashed uniforms. Or something.

Stormtroopers! Kasrkin figures, left over from my mad project to make a fully Valkyrie-mounted Stormtrooper army dating back to 4th Edition in the early-mid 2000s. I like this unit because with the two plasma guns there's a lot of AP3. Also the colour scheme is cool - modern French camo. These chaps run about in my Valkyrie, F-Fay, but that's a Fast Attack choice so you'll have to wait for that!
