    Base Sizes for AoS

I am looking to re-ignite my love for fantasy and plunge into AoS using the new (old?) Skaven models that are being released soon.

My problem is I cannot tell what base sizes / shape the models are supposed to be on, especially things like weapon teams and Jezzails. Are there guidelines to base sizes for older models, or is it a case of do whatever makes sense?

As far as I know there is no guide cos you ignore the base when measuring, instead you measure from the mini.

So, I guess you can use whatever you like as long as the minis don't fall over. Having said that I must admit to prefer using the 'proper' bases. Maybe find similar minis (with AoS bases) to the ones you want to base and use the same size bases, which are usually listed in the models description on the GW site. Thats what I'm doing pretty much though I am putting all infantry on 32mm bases.

For most skaven I think a 25mm base should be fine. They used to come on 20mm square after all.

For weapon teams and jezzails I think I'd recommend 75mm ovals. But as lost egg says, have a look at what the web store says. You'll have a much bigger footprint on oval bases.

There's a pretty common convention of measuring to bases, rather than minis. People mostly don't like seeing their little guys in a heap. They use that rule for stuff like the tournaments they are running at warhammer world, so it's about as official as a houserule can get. Even then, there's no mandatory base size for anything.

That's cool, thank you. I was thinking of using the oval bases for Jezzails, similar to the Ad Mech snipers, but not sure whether they need to be separate or not.
