I'm not super up on how many edition there have been - would 4th edition likely be set in the Mortal Realms then?

2nd Ed WFRP was the best RPG system I've ever played. I was very saddened when it was discontinued.
Crucifiers (SM codex) (11881/693 PL)
Orks (3745/255 PL)
Astra Militarum (8049/458 PL)
Fallen Crucifiers (CSM codex) (####/354 PL)
Death Guard (2232/123 PL)
Primaris Marines (1699/80 PL)
That's pretty interesting news. I imagine it would be the Old World setting if only as that seems to be the most palatable option for most roleplayers, and WFRP 1st/2nd ed (and the setting) has a stellar pedigree.
It also potentially means they could reprint The Enemy Within - and you'd be mad not to want to republish one of the greatest RPG epic campaigns of all time, that can stand alongside even Masks of Nyarlathotep.

But if they produce a new ruleset, what's the point, GW will never let them expand the old world. And vets have everything they need, therefore a new game without 1st or 2nd edition rules will just divide the community further. They will publish things about remote and forgotten places of the Empire and that would be it. Unless GW gives them totally free reign, we're better off with Zweihänder imho.

I found a cheap copy of two second edition supplements, one about magic and the other about priests, and they're some of the best background fluff for Warhammer I've ever read. I would totally buy more if the opportunity presented itself.

Zweihander is indeed amazing. I think a new edition would sell well with people who don't already have it (the prices, even on pdf's is pretty steep, and even then not everything is available) but yeah, I'd stick with 1st/2nd for playing Olde World setting, or Zweihander for mechanically and tonally similar stuff, but in a homebrew setting.

I love 2nd ed WFRP. The Enemy Within is great and I've written a load of adventures myself also.
I think more background material would be nice but tbh the 2nd ed rulebook really has most of what is needed. The individual books on Skaven etc are also useful for background and other info.

I loved 2nd Ed WFRPG. It was what got me into Fantasy Battle in the first place, after I'd grabbed enough beastmen for the characters to fight I realized I had the beginnings of an army.
We only finished an 8 year campaign last year.
I hope this is good news.

We're still successfully playing with the 1st edition rules so I'm not really interested in a new rules system.
I'd far prefer them to publish reprints of those out of production 2nd edition supplements. They were gorgeous books and are now increasingly hard and expensive to get...

As much as i dont want them too , i think theres a fair chance of a new WFRP being set in AoS , it would( probably) give some of the background that the setting is desperate for . Course if they are sensible and make any new WFRP set in the proper Olde Worlde id buy it all .
The second edition stuff really was the best ever![]()
As for the time being, no, you can't purchase anything new WFRP related, neither PDFs, not PODs. FFG did put up a print-on-demand service for some 2nd edition titles in the last years, but since the announcement of them losing the licence, all materials on DriveThru have been taken down: only people who already bought some titles continue to be able to download them. And now, since the passing of the distribution license to Cubicle 7, PDFs of WFRP are marked C7 and not FFG anymore.
I'm actually quite curious about a possible new edition: C7 produces top-notch RPG material, both from a writing and an artistic point of view (their layouts are really good too).
Taking in account how much right feel and atmosphere they manage to put in their licensed products (Tolkien's Middle Earth and Doctor Who come to mind), I'm really eager to see their possible take on the Old World. Also, not forgetting that they are a really British company at heart: looking at their pedigree, if you discount the translations of the Le Septieme Circle's RPGs (Kuro, Quin:The Warring States, Yggdrasil, Keltia), almost anything they produc(ed) in-house was and is "made in the U.K.".
From the beginning with SLA Industries, through their FATE-based games (Starblazer Adventures and Legends of Anglerre), their Mythos RPGs (Chtulhu Britannica, World War Chtulhu, The Laundry), the Lone Wolf Adventure Game (based on the legendary gamebook series), Primeval, Victoriana, Rocket Age and, again, the big licenses (The One Ring RPG, Adventures in Middle Earth for D&D 5th edition, Hobbit Tales from the Green Dragon Inn, Doctor Who RPG, Doctor Who: The Card Game, Dalek Dice), one can clearly see the trend.
So it'll be brand new. Quite exciting.A new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay will be launched by Cubicle 7 Entertainment later this year. The new edition will return players to Warhammer's grim world of perilous adventure, and takes its direction from the first and second editions of the game.
Cubicle 7 CEO Dominic McDowall said, "Like so many gamers I grew up on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It's an iconic setting and I'm thrilled to be working on this new edition of the game. Our team have a huge breadth of experience with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and I’m excited to be able to bring the Cubicle 7 approach to the Old World. We’ll be revealing more of our plans in the coming months, so subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye on our website!”

I briefly ran into the same issue... seems to be working now!
The biggest surprise is it directly refers to the Old World and the classic setting. I'm stunned to see GW isn't moving it into the new AoS setting. Delighted, but stunned!

sounds like its back to first edition wfrp (more or less) not my first choice but pretty damned good !
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
WFRP2 was my first RPG and I loved it immensely.
