What is that impressive beast behind the Gorgon in your last picture.

    Re: Kolonial Death Korps

I tried a new technique on the Gorgon:

    [img] [/img]

The final white layer was a bit of a disaster, the red primer kept bleeding through and I tried to compensate with a heavy white coat. Bad idea. A couple of lighter sprays fixed the colour, but the thick white layer is visible in the transitions of the colours.

Pretty happy with it though, sufficiently different from my other tank paint scheme but without looking like they couldnít be in the same war zone.

Your force is growing nicely!Cool Berlin scheme. When you finish painting the details and throw some wash on the gorgon I don't think the thickness of the white will bother you so much. Lord knows I'm fairly reckless in my plaint application but nuln oil always saves the day!

That's true. Heavy weathering will blend the distinct colours together and the white would become subdued.

Finished these guys quickly last weekend so I could get them sprayed ... and then promptly did nothing with them!

They are ugly little centaurs with heavy stubbers and open topped troop compartments (canvas covering optional).

Theyíll be driving round my grenadiers in style(ish) or more likely getting blown up and killing all their occupants in an orange fireball

The Gorgon looks great and I really like the cammo scheme you have used on it and the Centaurs which truly are ugly but work a treat.

    Inquisitor Pariah,

When I first saw your Centaurs, I did not make the connection until you provided the name.

Sometimes having small units going up in a ball of fire distracts your opponent from the real attack.

Quick update - dry brush and wash done, might need another wash.

Next: another wash, weathering and chipping. Mud, probably!

    Inquisitor Pariah,

I agree with another wash on the main parts as I do not see the depth that is on your tracks. Maybe not a full wash, but one at the edges and recesses.

    My two cents,

Agreed! But I went mad and tried a weak purple wash first Then I used a black wash, which was better

Then I weathered everything by sponging on a light khaki brown and a dark brown/green mix (depending on the background colour).

I used a home made pigment powder (ground down brown pastel), going heavy on the tracks and interiors. Iíve had problems with this coming loose in the past so I airbrushed on a mix of Matt varnish and water, but this melted the dust down. Iíll need to put a little more more as it is more of a stain now than a powder.

    Results:

The weathering on the Gorgon is very heavy, itís a bit lighter on the troglodytes.

    Next steps:

    1) Light silver dry brush on the tracks, then more dust.

    2) Paint weapons and details.

    3) Make more space in the display cabinets!

More dust pigments, airbrushed brown onto the very bottom and metallics here and there:

The weathering is making the block camo seem more realistic.

I agree with the Captain; the weathering really helps to bring the whole paint job together.

    Re: Kolonial Death Korps

The completed infantry platoons have come out really nicely, great group shots! I was a bit uncertain when I saw the WIPs but the painted articles have really come together nicely.

Regarding the armour, I think the same thing going to happen here too :P The weathering is definitely helping pull those proxy Centaurs together. I'm going to assume that once the weapons and interiors have been done they're going to look really spiffy. Well, as spiffy as Krieg get anyway.

BTW, your original link to the back =ground on the first page doesn't seem to be working?

    Cheers

    Cheers everyone!

Iíll have a look at the front page to see what has gone wrong, but after the photobucket debacle I am slightly scared to!

I was a bit worried that the paint scheme was a bit too stark, but the weathering has helped bring it together. Iíve not done the interiors as I need to add more detail, but Iím calling them some for now:

Iíve been working on some imperial allies

Imperial Lightening fighters - scratch built out of robogear fighters, highlighter pens and plastic card

Grey Knight detachment, not speed painted but I have used every possible cheat to get them done quicker. Very work in progress!
