Nice houses.
Nice houses.
Thanks mrtn.
I finished the other two houses in the Tabletop Workshop catalogue: the Town House and the Merchant's House.
The Town House comes with, what I think is, a slate roof. A little hard to tell as the shape of the roofing suggests either tile or slate but it has linear texture like a cedar shingle.
I decided the merchant's house would be older daub so I made stronger water stains and added faint mold along the bottom.
I switched up my daub approach as I am still not completely happy with it.
Before the building was finished I took a few shots of the interior of the Merchant's House.
The roof and second floor pop off allowing access.
Here is a 28mm plastic musketeer for scale; you can see he is a little tall.
Just for the sake of completing the set, a couple of weeks ago I ordered the Stable and Medieval Chapel from Warlord Games. As I am still awaiting stuff from the UK I ordered in February I am not expecting them anytime soon...![]()

Thanks CB. Actually the roof lifts off and the second floor comes out. I just had it semi-assembled when I took the picture.

Not entirely pleased with the result, but acceptable as the barn is "ramshackle"; I would like to give it a couple more attempts before I try an alternative method.
While googling old thatch roofs, photos of roofs with plants growing in them showed up and as the barn is in disrepair I decided to add some.
The Perry Miniatures cottage a few posts back comes with a fence made of hurdles; as I didn't use it with the cottage I decided to turn it into a pinfold.
A pinfold is essentially the olden days version of the pound; if your animals strayed they would get locked in there and you would have to pay a fine to get them out.
I should have included a couple of cattle for scale but I haven't any painted yet. If you squint you can see a horse at far end of the pinfold in the photo below (he'd pop out of there like t was nothing...).

Funilly enough I'm painting that wattle fence at the moment, and I just bought the Tabletop Workshop Cottage and Barn (North Star had a sale), so I'll probably paint them soon too.
Nice work.
Two more Tabletop Workshop buildings out of the way: the barn and the stable.
The barn I actually painted and finished about 3 years ago.
The kits all use the same roof pieces (the town house excepted), end walls (merchant's house excepted) and floor - it's the long walls that make each kit different.
With the stable I tried to replicate the daub colouring of the Perry's cottage (I should have wrote it down...); I think I got pretty close. One thing I regret is not filling in the tabs in the end walls with putty; they really stand out in the close up photos- not so noticeable on the table though.
The roof came out a little too light grey for my liking- I think I will give it a glaze with a dark brown just to warm it up a bit.

Such lovely lovely terrain! And from what I can tell your hobbying area looks rather respectable too!

Nice work. I'm in the process of painting my houses, and I just filled in the gable tabs with greenstuff, after painting the rest of the houses. I'm sure you can do the same with yours.
As to the grey roof I think it looks realistic, means that not all roofs are the same age in your village.
