The cloth starts as a base and it easily adjusted. The bones in the belt buckle are fused into the buckle, that's just an extra object stuck in place. Chainmail in made in a procedural way from a base element, again tack on, delete a few links and job's a good one. Digital is faster because it makes anything that needs to be done often super easy.

Look at the details, all buckles are stuck on the same double belt at the same spot, that's just working from a single base element.
